Tottenham Hotspur finally has a new stadium, appropriately called Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and the club played their first game there on Wednesday with a match against Crystal Palace.

After the singers finished singing, and the pageantry was over, the game finally kicked off. And … not much happened for the first hour.
Cagey play from both sides was the name of the game, with Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace side showing off the team defending that’s always been a mark of Hodgson teams in the Premier League.
Then, finally, Tottenham broke through. Christian Eriksen collected a ball on the left side, then found the feet of Son Heung-min. Sonny, as he is belovedly called by Spurs fans, cut inside to his left foot, then ripped a shot that deflected off a Palace defender and into the back of the net.
The call was excellent from the NBC Sports announcer: “Heung-min Son …. CREATES HISTORY FOR TOTTENHAM.”
Yes, Son got a deflection, and Palace will feel a bit hard done by, but he beat his man to the spot and ripped a strong left-footed shot … not a lot that can be done with that.

‘벌써 2승째’ 류현진 “볼넷 주느니 투수에게 홈런 맞는 게 낫다” “볼넷을 주느니 차라리 투수한테 홈런을 맞는 게 낫다.” 미국프로야구 메이저리그(MLB) 시즌 개막과 함께 2연승을 거둔 류현진(32·LA 다저스)이 유일한 ‘옥에 티’였던 피홈런 상황을 돌아보며 말했다. 류현진은 3일(한국시간) 미국 캘리포니아주 LA 다저스타디움에서 열린 2019 MLB 샌프란시스코 자이언츠와 홈경기에서 선발로 나와 7이닝 동안 2실점으로 호투하며 시즌 2승째를 거뒀다. 호투 속에서도 6회 상대 투수 매디슨 범가너에게 맞은 투런포가 아쉬움으로 남았다. 류현진은 “살짝 실투이기도 했는데 범가너 선수가 놓치지 않고 잘 쳤다”며 “실투가 많지는 않았고 빠른 공 중 한 두 개가 그랬는데 홈런으로 연결됐다”고 돌아봤다. 평소 볼넷을 극도로 싫어하는 그는 “홈런은 맞을 수 있다”며 “물론 (투수에게) 맞으면 안되겠지만 볼넷으로 그냥 내보내느니 (홈런을) 맞는 게 낫다는 말”이라고 했다. 조희찬 기자 etwoods@hankyung.com 한국경제 |

The Los Angeles Dodgers received more of the same from Cody Bellinger and Hyun-Jin Ryu, and it led to a 6-5 win over Madison Bumgarner San Francisco Giants to set up a rubber match Wednesday at Dodger Stadium.
Coming off his six innings of one-run ball in an impressive Opening Day start, Ryu put together another impressive showing. He retired 15 of the first 16 batters and faced the minimum through five shutout innings.
