Google outlines $7B U.S. data center, office investment

Google plans to invest more than $7 billion to expand data centers and offices in the U.S. this year, with a pledge to create at least 10,000 full-time jobs at the company across several states, according to a post by Google CEO Sundar Pichai in The Keyword blog.

 

Google CEO Sundar Pichai said this year's investments include the first U.S. Google Operations Center in Southaven, Mississippi.

   순다르 피차이 구글 최고경영자(CEO)가 키워드 블로그에 올린 글에 따르면 구글은 올해 70억 달러 이상을 투자해 미국 내 데이터 센터와 사무실을 확충할 계획이며, 여러 주에 걸쳐 최소 1만 개의 정규직 일자리를 만들겠다는 공약을 내걸고 있다.

 

 

순다르 피차이 구글 CEO는 올해 투자에는 미시시피주 사우스타븐에 있는 미국 최초의 구글 운영 센터가 포함된다고 말했다.

 

피차이는 남부에서 "사우스캐롤라이나 데이터센터에 대한 투자를 늘리고 노스캐롤라이나 더럼에 최신 클라우드 엔지니어링 사이트를 구축하며 미시시피주 사우스벤에 첫 미국 구글 운영 센터를 개설하고 있다"고 썼다.

 

그는 버지니아주에서는 라우던 카운티 데이터 센터를 확장하고, 레스턴에 새 사무실 건물을 열 것이라고 덧붙였다. 한편 피차이는 "텍사스주 미들로디언에 있는 새로운 데이터 센터가 현재 운영되고 있다"며 "구글은 휴스턴에 새로운 사무실을 열 예정"이라고 말했다. 애틀랜타에 있는 Google 캠퍼스는 진행 중인 교육에서 혜택을 받고 있다

Detailing the investment by regions, Pichai wrote that in the South, “We’re increasing our investment in our South Carolina data center, establishing our newest Cloud engineering site in Durham, North Carolina, and opening the first U.S. Google Operations Center in Southaven, Mississippi.”

 

He added that in Virginia the company will expand its Loudon County data center, and open a new office building in Reston. Meanwhile, a new data center in Midlothian, Texas is now operational, Pichai said, and elsewhere in that state Google will open a new office in Houston--its first there--and will continue to invest in its office campuses in Austin.
