길이 488ｍ로 세계 최장의 유리 다리인 중국 허베이(河北)성 훙야구(紅崖谷) 유리다리가 안전을 이유로 폐쇄됐다.
31일 중국 중앙방송(CCTV)과 영국 일간 가디언 등에 따르면 허베이성 당국은 안전 문제를 고려해 성내의 투명 유리로 된 다리, 잔도(棧道. 절벽에 매달아 만든 길), 전망대 32개를 모두 폐쇄했다.

Hebei, a scenic mountainous province in northern China, has quietly closed all 32 of its glass bridges, walkways and mountain viewing platforms over the past year for safety reasons, according to Chinese state media CCTV. Among the attractions that have been closed is Hongyagu glass bridge, which until recently held the title of the world’s longest glass bridge. 폐쇄된 유리 구조물 가운데는 세계에서 가장 긴 투명 유리 다리인 훙야구 유리 다리가 포함돼 있다.
허베이성 핑산(平山)현 훙야구의 위치한 이 다리는 해발 218m 높이에 위치하며, 길이가 488m에 달한다.
이 다리는 산과 산 사이의 협곡을 연결하는 현수교로, 2017년 말에 완공됐다.
이 다리는 두께 4㎝의 유리 패널 1천77개로 제작돼 아래가 훤히 내려다보인다. 전체 다리의 무게는 70t에 달하는 것으로 알려졌다.

또 폐쇄된 구조물 가운데는 동타이항 유리잔도도 있다.
허베이성 한단(邯鄲)시 동타이항 관광지구의 해발 1천180m 높이에 위치한 유리 잔도는 일부가 깨져 고발 동영상이 인터넷에 올라오는 등 그동안 여러 차례 안전상의 문제가 제기됐다.
허베이성 당국이 성내 모든 유리 다리와 잔도, 전망대를 전면 폐쇄하기로 한 것은 최근 중국 각지에서 유리 구조물과 관련한 사고가 잇따르고 있는 상황과 무관치 않다.
올해에도 광시좡족자치구의 한 유리 구조물에서 추락사고가 발생해 한 명이 숨지고 6명이 상처를 입었다.
중국 중앙정부는 유리 구조물에 대한 전면적인 안전점검을 하도록 각 지방정부에 지시했으나, 제대로 이행될지 의구심을 갖는 시각도 있다.
중국 전역에는 유리 다리만 2천300여개가 있으며, 유리 잔도와 유리 미끄럼틀의 수는 이보다 더 많다.
