현대로템이 해외에서 처음으로 지하철 사업 턴키 수주에 성공했다.
현대자동차그룹의 종합중공업회사인 현대로템은 필리핀 현지 시행청인 ULC(Universal LRT Corporation Limited)사와 전동차 108량, 신호, 통신, 전력 등을 포함한 총 5300억 원 규모의 마닐라 지하철 사업 계약을 체결했다고 22일 밝혔다.
현대로템이 이번에 수주한 사업은 필리핀 마닐라 내 퀘존 시티(Quezon city) 노스 에드사(North EDSA)역에서 불라칸(Bulacan)주에 위치한 산호세델몬테(San Jose Del Monte)역을 연결하는 신규노선 사업이다. 현대로템은 이 노선에 투입될 전동차 108량과 신호, 통신, 전력 등 기전시스템 분야까지 오는 2019년 하반기까지 제작 및 납품하게 된다.
지난 1996년 마닐라 지하철 1호선 사업에 투입된 경전철 28량 사업 수주를 기점으로 처음 필리핀 시장에 진출한 현대로템은 2004년과 2009년에 각각 전동차 72량, 디젤동차 18량을 납품한 바 있다.
이번 입찰에서 현대로템이 우위를 점할 수 있었던 것은 앞서 제작·납품한 마닐라 2호선 전동차 72량 및 필리핀 철도청 디젤동차 18량 사업의 성공적인 사업수행 실적을 인정받았기 때문이다. 특히 마닐라 2호선 전동차 72량은 필리핀 내에서 가장 좋은 전동차로 평가 받고 있다는 게 현대로템 관계자의 설명이다.
이번 수주는 현대로템이 필리핀 시장에서 수주한 사업 가운데 최대 규모로, 해외에서 차량뿐 아니라 신호, 전력, 통신, 궤도 등 기전 시스템 분야 전체를 함께 수주한 것은 이번이 처음이다.
현대로템 관계자는 “앞서 수행한 2호선 전동차에 대한 호평은 물론 서울 지하철 9호선 등 국내에서 수행한 턴키 사업에 대한 안정적인 사업수행능력을 인정받은 결과”라며 “해외에서 수주한 첫 턴키 사업인 만큼 현지 건설사와의 긴밀한 협업을 통해 안정적으로 사업을 수행해 나갈 계획”이라고 말했다.

SEOUL, Jan. 22 (Yonhap) -- Hyundai Rotem Co., a train-making affiliate of Hyundai Motor Group, said Friday that it has inked a deal to construct a subway line and other necessary systems in the Philippines for 530 billion won (US$440.2 million).
The deals signed with ULC, a local company, calls for Hyundai Rotem to build a subway line linking a station in Manila to another in Bulacan which is located in the northern part of the country.
It will also provide the trains to be deployed for the line along with other necessary communications, signal and electric systems by the second half of 2019, the company said.
The deal is the largest that Hyundai Rotem has ever made in the Philippines since 1996 when it first entered the market.
This also marks the first time that it has secured an order from the country on a turn-key basis under which it will be in charge of the entire project from planning to actual construction.
