Barcelona, Spain-based industrial designer Oscar Vinals rethinks air travel with his new airplane conceptAWWA·QG, a.k.a. "Progress Eagle." Aiming for high performance and low environmental impact, Vinals reimagined the shape of current commercial planes to create an environmentally friendly, futuristic-looking jet that makes use of particle streams and quantum mechanics.
Powered by electrical turbo fans, the aircraft generates most of its energy through solar and wind generators. This allows the Progress Eagle to be self-sufficient, with zero contaminant emissions. Furthermore, the plane will even be able to help "clear" the atmosphere through its CO2 system cleaner and hydrogen system generator, ensuring a positive impact on the environment.
Structurally, the Progress Eagle appears strikingly different from models flown today. A 314-foot wingspan, roomier fuselage, and expanded three decks mean that the aircraft is able to hold 800 passengers. The body of the plane is made of carbon fiber, graphene, ceramic, aluminum, titanium, and shape-memory alloy materials. Lightweight and ultra-slim wings, designed in the shape of double arrows, are foldable so they can be stowed during taxi or at the airport.
With the continual development of new technology, Vinals predicts that his remarkable plane concept will be feasible by the year 2030.
