지난 1999년에 452m 말레이시아 페트로나스 트윈타워를 건설했던 삼성물산이 다시 말레이시아 초고층 랜드마크를 짓는다.   삼성물산(대표이사 최치훈)은 18일 저녁 말레이시아 스타 레지던스(Star Residences)빌딩의 공식 기공식과 함께 스타 레지던스 빌딩의 시공사로 참여한다고 19일 밝혔다.   스타 레지던스 빌딩은 말레이시아 수도 쿠알라룸푸르 중심부에 265m 58층 2개동과 251m 57층 1개동 총 3개동의 초고층 주상복합빌딩으로 2019년 8월 완공이 되면 말레이시아 주거시설로는 최고층이 될 전망이다.   삼성물산은 이번 공사를 단독으로 수행할 예정이며, 공사금액은 3300억 원이다.     이번 프로젝트는 말레이시아 민간개발업체인 UM Land와 심포니라이프(Symphony Life)가 각각 50%의 지분으로 참여한 특수목적법인(SPC) 알파인 리턴(Alpine Return)이 발주처로 삼성물산은 시공부분에 참여한다.       18일 저녁 말레이시아 스타 레지던스 현장에서 열린 기공식에는 다툭 닥터 옹 홍 펭 말레이시아 관광문화부 차관과 탄 스리 아즈만 야햐(Tan Sri Azman Yahya) 알파인 리턴 회장 겸 심포니라이프 회장, 삼성물산 최치훈 사장이 참석했다. 특히 말레이시아 출신의 세계적인 디자이너 지미추(Jimmy Choo) 등 말레이시아 유명 인사들이 참석해 이번 프로젝트의 높은 관심을 나타냈다.   이번 수주 역시 고객신뢰를 바탕으로 발주처가 먼저 사업 참여를 요청해 삼성물산이 단독으로 참여한 프로젝트라는 점이 눈에 띈다. 실제 페트로나스 트윈타워가 완공된 지 15년이 지난 지금에도 삼성물산은 말레이시아 국민들에게 말레이시아의 상징인 페트로나스의 시공사로 잘 알려져 있다.   실제 발주처인 알파인 리턴은 사업초기 당시 말레이시아 최고급 레지던스의 상징성, 짧은 공사기간의 한계, 초고층빌딩 공사수행역량을 이번 사업의 중점관리사항으로 정하고 먼저 삼성물산에 사업수행 검토를 의뢰한 것으로 알려졌다.   삼성물산 최치훈 사장은 "이번 프로젝트는 삼성물산에 있어서 페트로나스 트윈타워와 함께 말레이시아 시장에 새로운 역사를 쓰는 의미 있는 사업이 될 것"이라며 "안전을 최우선 가치로 성공적인 사업수행을 통해 발주처의 가치를 한 층 높이고, 삼성물산의 '고객에게 신뢰받는 건설사(The Trusted Builder)'라는 경영이념을 실현시키겠다."고 의미를 더했다.   삼성물산은 1999년 당시 세계 최고층인 452m 페트로나스를 시공해 초고층 공사수행역량을 전 세계에 알렸으며, 이후 2010년에 828m 163층, 현존 세계 최고층 건축물인 UAE 부르즈 칼리파(Burj Khalifa)를 완공한 바 있다. 삼성물산

 

Samsung C&T to build $310m Malaysian development

 

by Gavin Gibbon Samsung C&T has signed a $310mn deal to construct Star Development in Kuala Lumpar. The project will comprise Star Residences – luxurious residential homes, and Star Boulevard – signature retail F&B and an entertainment hub.   The contract was assigned by Alpine Return Sdn Bhd, a joint venture between United Malayan Land Bhd and Symphony Life Bhd.   It encompasses the construction of three high-rise towers – a 57-floor, 251m high tower and two 58-floor, 265m tall luxurious residential towers. Once completed, the structures will be one of the tallest residential towers in Kuala Lumpur. Star Residences will be located within the central business area in Kuala Lumpur.   Construction work began on 7 November and is expected to be completed by 2019.   Star Development will feature Malaysia’s first and only Star Walk of Fame – a 200m long stretch featuring both local and international celebrities, similar to Hollywood’s Walk of Fame and Hong Kong’s Avenue of Stars.   Samsung C&T previously built the Burj Khalifa in Dubai and also participated in the construction of the 452m Petronas Twin Tower.   “We are honored to be part of the Star Development project,” said Chi Hun Choi, president and CEO of Samsung C&T, said: “We look forward to continuing our support for Malaysia’s growth and development, having participated in large scale projects including Petronas Twin Towers.
