  안전하게 통과하기 위해 얼마나 빨리 운전해야 하는지 알려주는 스마트 신호등 덕분에 출퇴근 중에 빨간불이 모두 꺼지기지를 기다리는 것은 과거의 일이 될 수 있다.

 

신호등은 위성항법장치와 같이 대시보드에 장착된 디스플레이와 통신함으로써 작동하며, 이 디스플레이는 신호등의 변화를 안전하게 이기기 위해 필요한 속도를 표시한다.

'By allowing drivers to regulate their speed, to co-ordinate with traffic-light timing, it will also minimise being stopped by a red light, easing frustration and saving motorists fuel,' Amey's technical director for intelligent mobility, Paul Rose, told the Times

 

 

차량이 정지 상태에서 회전하면 배출량이 증가할 수 있으며, CO³ 및 NOx 출력 수준을 각각 최대 27% 및 17%까지 줄일 수 있다.

 

매년 약 7백만 명의 사람들이 대기 오염으로 조기 사망하는데, 이 중 4만 명이 영국에서만 조기 사망한다.
