UK Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID vaccine trial in children paused
Oxford University says there were ‘no safety concerns’ in the trial but will await additional data before restarting.

The University of Oxford said on Tuesday it had paused a small UK trial testing the COVID-19 vaccine it developed with AstraZeneca in children and teenagers, as it waits for more data on rare blood clotting issues in adults who received the shot.
The university, which helped develop the embattled vaccine, said in a statement that there were “no safety concerns” in the trial, but acknowledged fears over a potential link to clots by saying that it was awaiting additional data from Britain’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) before restarting the study.

옥스퍼드대학은 22일(현지시간) 아스트라제네카와 함께 개발한 어린이 및 청소년 대상 코로나19 백신 실험을 잠시 중단했다고 밝혔다.
이날 성명을 통해 "이번 실험에서 안전성에 대한 우려는 없었다"면서도 "연구 재개를 앞두고 영국의 의약품 및 의료제품 규제청(MHRA)의 추가 자료를 기다리고 있다"고 말해 혈전 응고와 연관될 가능성에 대한 우려를 인정했다.
