Hotel room shakes during Japan earthquake

The 7.3 magnitude quake struck shortly before midnight Saturday and cracked walls, shattered windows and set off a landslide in Fukushima, the area closest to the epicentre.

   진도 7.3의 지진이 토요일 자정 직전에 발생했고 벽이 깨지고 유리창이 산산조각이 나며 후쿠시마에서 산사태가 발생했다.

이번 지진으로 수백 킬로미터 떨어진 일본 수도 도쿄의 건물들이 흔들렸다.

현지 시간으로 오후 11시 8분(GMT 14시 8분) 발생한 지진 직후 수십만 채의 건물에 전기가 끊겼지만 다음날 아침 전력은 대부분 복구됐다.

그러나 수천 가구가 물 없이 남아 있었고 주민들은 트럭으로부터 물을 받기 위해 플라스틱 항아리를 들고 줄을 섰다.NHK 국영방송은 골절상을 입은 여러 명을 포함해 최소 104명이 다쳤다고 보도했으나 사망자는 없었다.

The quake shook buildings in the Japanese capital Tokyo hundreds of kilometres away.

Though hundreds of thousands of buildings lost electricity just after the quake, which struck at 11:08 p.m. local (14:08 GMT), by the next morning power had been restored to most.

Several thousand households remained without water, though, and residents lined up with plastic jugs to receive water from trucks.At least 104 people were injured, NHK national television said, including several who suffered fractures, but there were no reported deaths.
