함안 성신RST, `1000억` 방글라데시 철도차량 사업 수주
경남 함안의 철도차량 생산업체인 성신RST가 방글라데시 철도청으로부터 1000억원 규모의 철도차량 사업을 수주했다.
성신RST(대표이사 박계출)는 방글라데시 철도청과 `방글라데시 수상 전용객차를 포함한 150량 객차공급사업` 계약을 체결했다고 30일 밝혔다.

Bangladesh Railway to procure 150 South Korean carriages at Tk 658.31cr Bangladesh Railway today signed a contract with a South Korean joint-venture firm to procure 150 meter-gauge passenger carriages to replace the old ones and increase the number of trains. Under the contract, the firm -- Sung Shin RST and POSCO International -- will supply the carriages within 18 to 30 months of contract signing at the cost of Tk 658.31 crore. 이번 사업은 한국수출입은행 대외경제협력기금(EDCF) 유상원조기금으로 지원되는 사업으로 포스코인터내셔널의 지원사격이 컸다.

포스코인터내셔널은 현지에서 쌓아온 네트워크와 시장 정보 등을 성신RST에 제공함으로써 수주는 물론 방글라데시 진출을 적극 도왔다. 특히 양사는 입찰공고 이전 사업개발단계부터 방글라데시 현지 여건에 맞는 전략으로 수주에 성공했다.
이에 따라 성신RST는 올해부터 함안 본사와 문경 공장에서 생산에 돌입해 오는 2023년까지 객차를 인도할 예정이다
박계출 대표는 "탄자니아, 가봉, 콩고 등에 객차를 납품해 기술력을 인정 받았다"며 "이번 사업 수주를 통해 서남아시아의 철도 시장 진출 확대를 위한 교두보를 마련했다"고 말했다.
성신RST는 1990년 철도 차량 대차 부품·조립 제조업체로 시작해 객차, 디젤동력차량, 디젤기관차 등을 생산하는 철도 차량 전문 제조업체로 성장했다. 현재 중동을 비롯 아프리카, 아시아, 브라질 등으로 수출하면서 기술과 품질의 우수성을 해외로부터 인정받고 있다.
