로봇 개 '스팟', 미국서 '9천만원'에 첫 판매 시작
온라인 몰서 최대 2대까지 구입가능
보스턴 다이나믹스(Boston Dynamics)가 7만 4500달러(약 9000만원)에 로봇 개 ‘스팟(spot)’을 판매한다고 16일(현지시간) 밝혔다. 이번 출시는 회사의 첫 상업적 로봇 판매로, 그동안 스팟은 조기 지원 프로그램(Early Adopter Program)을 통해 단기 임대만 가능했었다.

Now any US business can buy Boston Dynamics’ Spot robot for $74,500 It took Boston Dynamics a quarter of a century to release its first commercial product, so one can forgive the company for taking a few extra months to make that product more widely available. Nine months after making Spot available in limited quantities under its Early Adopter Program, the yellow and black quadruped is now available to any business that wants one. According to the company, some 150 Spot robots were made available to businesses and research facilities in that early program. 회사에 따르면 기업은 보스톤 다이나믹스 온라인 몰(shop.bostondynamics.com)에서 스팟 익스플로어(Spot Explorer) 개발자 키트를 구입할 수 있다. 이 키트에는 로봇을 포함해 배터리 2개, 충전기, 태블릿 컨트롤러, 로봇 케이스, 파워 케이스, 스팟 APIs용 파이선(Python) 클라이언트 패키지 등이 있다. 회사는 한정된 기간 동안 무료 배송 서비스도 제공하는데, 고객은 6~8주 정도면 스팟 익스플로어를 수령할 수 있다.
스팟은 쇼핑 포털을 통해 최대 2대까지 구입이 가능하다. 이보다 많은 단위를 구입하는 경우는 아카데믹(공인된 교육 기관을 위한 할인)과 엔터프라이즈(많은 센서, 소프트웨어 통합, 통신 인프라, 로봇 선대 관리)라는 2개의 가격책정 단계로 넘어간다. 대규모 구매 및 서드 파티 솔루션에 대해선 별도로 문의해야 한다.
스팟은 현재 상업용 및 산업용으로 출시돼 미국에서만 구매가 가능하다. 보스턴 다이나믹스는 올해 안에 세계시장으로 판매를 확대하고, 앞으로도 조기 지원 프로그램을 통해 엄선된 고객에게만 스팟 로봇을 대여할 계획이다.
