Stocks post their worst day since March

London (CNN Business) - The stocks mega-rally hit a roadblock: A somber economic outlook from the US Federal Reserve and the 2 millionth coronavirus case in the United States has investors questioning whether they had boosted the stock market too far, too fast.

비관적 경제전망과 코로나 확산 우려

    미국 연방준비제도이사회(FRB)와 200만번째 코로나바이러스(Coronavirus) 감염자 발생으로 인한 침울한 경제 전망에 투자자들은 증시룰 어떡해서 끌어올렸는지 의문을 제기하고 있다.

미국 증시는 3월 16일 이후 최악의 실적을 기록하는 등 마감 직전까지 곤두박질쳤다. 투자자들은 코로나 대유행으로 경제에 어떤 영향을 미칠지를 걱정하며 주식을 매도했다.

 

다우지수는 1862포인트(6.9%) 하락 마감했다. 지수는 이달 초 이후 처음으로 2만6000포인트 아래로 떨어졌다.

S&P 500지수는 5.9% 하락하며 5월 말 이후 최저치로 마감했다. 오직 S&P 주식인 식료품 체인 크로거만이 긍정적인 영역에서 마감되었다.

주초 사흘 만에 사상 최고치를 기록한 나스닥 종합주가지수도 5.3% 하락 마감했다. 주초 사상 최고치인 3일 사상 처음으로 1만포인트를 넘어섰지만 6일에는 다시 5월 하순 이후 볼 수 없는 수준으로 떨어졌다.

미국의 원유 가격은 8.2% 내린 배럴당 36.34달러에 장을 마쳤다.

US stocks plummeted into the close, with all three indexes recording their worst performances since March 16 -- when the stock selloff over worries how the pandemic would affect the economy was at its worst.

The Dow closed 1,862 points, or 6.9%, lower. The index fell back below 26,000 points for the first time since the start of the month.

The S&P 500 ended down 5.9%, closing at its lowest total points since late May. Only one S&P stock, grocery chain Kroger, closed in positive territory.
