伊, 모든 공장 폐쇄… “2차 대전 이후 가장 심각한 위기”
이탈리아가 우한 코로나(코로나19) 확산을 막기 위해 모든 공장을 폐쇄한다. 경제난이 가중되는 어려움을 감안하더라도 일단 인명 피해를 줄이겠다는 고육지책(苦肉之策)이다.
주세페 콘테 이탈리아 총리는 21일(현지 시각) "이탈리아 전역에 빠르게 퍼지는 코로나19 기세를 늦추기 위해 모든 생산공장을 가동 중지한다"고 밝혔다.

In a dramatic late-night television address on Saturday, Giuseppe Conte, Italy’s prime minister, warned the nation was facing its gravest crisis since the second world war and said all non-essential businesses must close until 3 April. “The decision taken by the government is to close down all productive activity throughout the territory that is not strictly necessary, crucial, indispensable, to guarantee us essential goods and services,” Conte said Groceries and pharmacies would remain open and although he did not specify and what “indispensable” companies were, he was expected to release a decree on Sunday explaining his plans. 콘테 총리는 "이탈리아는 현재 제2차 세계대전 이후 가장 심각한 위기를 겪고 있다"며 "현재 이탈리아 국민들이 이동금지 같은 각종 대책에 맞춰 생활습관을 바꾸기 쉽지 않다는 점을 알고 있다. 그래도 그 정도 희생은 의사나 간호사, 수퍼마켓 직원들이나 보안 경찰 같은 사람들의 희생과 노력에 비하면 크지 않다는 점을 기억해달라"고 강조했다.

AP에 따르면 ‘당장 필요하고, 생활에 없어서는 안될 필수품을 생산하는 공장’은 이번 가동 중지 조치에서 제외된다. 식료품과 보건·방역 제품을 만드는 공장이 여기 해당될 것으로 보인다.
이탈리아는 하루 신규 확진자가 6000명을 넘어설 정도로 우한 코로나가 빠르게 퍼지고 있다. 이탈리아 보건당국에 따르면 21일 오후 6시 기준 누적 확진자 수는 하루 사이 6557명이 늘어 5만3578명으로 집계됐다.
누적 사망자 수 역시 4825명으로 늘었다. 전날 대비 793명(19.6%) 급증한 수치다. 이탈리아는 치명률이 세계 최고 수준인 9.0%에 달한다. 한국(1.16%)의 9배에 육박하는 수치다.

2011년 유로존 경제 위기 직격탄을 맞은 이탈리아는 최근 몇년간 경기 침체 여파에 신음했다. 이 때문에 우한 코로나가 퍼지는 와중에도 일부 지방에서는 경제난이 가중되는 상황을 우려해 공장 문을 닫지 않고 조업을 이어왔다.
