산업 전문매체인 ‘인슈런스 비즈니스 UK’에 따르면 시장조사 업체인 '리서치앤마켓 닷컴'이 자율주행차량 서비스 시장규모가 지난해 114억 달러(약 14.1조원)에서 2030년 2025억 달러(약 250조원)로 증가할 것으로 분석했다. 이에 연평균 성장률은 60.1%를 나타낼 것으로 예상된다.

자율주행차량 주차 서비스 등의 ‘차량 서비스’는 지난해 2억 달러(약 2500억원) 규모였지만 2030년까지 연평균 60.1% 증가해 351억 5000만 달러(약 43조 5000억원)로 증가한다. ‘자율주행 물류시장’은 지난해 7억 4000만 달러(약 9000억원)에서 연평균 41.7%의 성장률로 2030년까지 344억 6000만 달러(약 42조 7000억원)에 이를 것으로 분석됐다.

리서치앤마켓 닷컴은 최근 자율주행차의 등장으로 사람들의 이동방식이 변하고 있으며 해당 시장에도 새로운 참가자들이 대규모로 유입되고 있다고 밝혔다. 또한, 규제 장벽, 소비자 신뢰 문제 등 여러 장애물에도 불구하고 자율주행차가 높은 수익성은 물론 운영비용도 절감할 수 있는 가능성이 높다고 평가했다.
