8년만에 최저치 기록한 코스피..3.4% 하락하며 마감
코스피가 약 8년 만에 1,700포인트대까지 하락하면서 최저치를 경신했다. 코스닥 역시 6년만에 최저치를 기록했다.
13일 코스피 지수는 전장보다 62.89포인트(3.43%) 하락한 1,771.44에 장을 종료했다. 이는 2012년 7월25일 1769.31을 기록한 이래 최저다.

이날 코스피 시장에선 오전 9시6분 매도 사이드카가 발동하는 등 장 초반부터 급락세를 보였다. 이어 10시43분엔 코스피 지수가 8%까지 하락하면서 ‘서킷브레이커’가 발동하며 20분간 유가증권시장 내 주식·파생상품 매매거래가 정지되기도 했다. 유가증권시장에서 서킷브레이커가 발동한 건 지난 2001년 9월12일 이후 처음이었다.
코스피 지수는 장중 1,680.60포인트까지 급락하기도 했다. 그러나 이후 반등세를 보이면서 한때 1,809.31까지 올라가는 변동성을 보였다. 하루 사이에 128.71포인트가 등락한 것이다.
거래주체별로는 외국인이 1조2,393억원을 순매도했다. 역대 다섯 번째로 큰 매도세다. 반면 기관은 6,649억원을 순매수했는데, 연기금이 총 5,729억원을 투입한 영향이 컸다. 개인은 4,428억원 순매수를 기록했다.
시가총액 상위 10대 종목은 모두 하락 마감했다. 삼성전자와 SK하이닉스는 장중 한때 전 거래일보다 오른 모습을 보이긴 했지만 각각 1.67%, 0.36%씩 내린 채로 거래를 마쳤다.

Many major indexes in Asia Pacific plunged, while some exchanges activated circuit breakers after Wall Street officially ended its longest bull market run in history. US stock futures also dropped after hours. Their most dramatic declines, though, eventually scaled back: Dow (INDU) futures were last down 150 points, or 0.7%, while futures for the S&P 500 (SPX) and Nasdaq (COMP) fell 0.4% and 1.3%, respectively.

The dramatic morning rout appears to be subsiding — at least a little bit — with some markets even showing signs of recovery. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 plunged earlier in the day, but entirely reversed those losses and was most recently trading in the green.
Japan's Nikkei (N225) was down more than 5%, paring back earlier declines after the country signaled a "big" spending package is in the works, according to Reuters. The news outlet also reported that the Bank of Japan said it would buy $1.90 billion worth of Japanese government bonds. The benchmark index entered a bear market earlier this week, defined as a 20% drop from the most recent peak.
South Korea's benchmark Kospi (KOSPI) lost 5.7%, also scaling back earlier losses. But the index is still firmly in the red, and is on pace to close in a bear market Friday, joining other global markets. Markets in Seoul were hammered in morning trade, leading the Korea Exchange to temporarily suspend trading.
