'손세이셔널' 손흥민(26·토트넘)을 향한 찬사가 쏟아지고 있다.    12월 6골-2도움 손흥민, 현지서 극찬 스카이스포츠, 19R 반영 파워랭킹 선두 NBC 선정 올해의 골, 1위와 5위 차지    영국 스카이스포츠가 29일(한국시간) 프리미어리그 19라운드를 반영해 파워랭킹을 발표한 결과, 손흥민은 포인트 1만1900점으로 18라운드에 이어 파워랭킹 1위에 올랐다. 파워랭킹은 최근 5주간 골, 도움, 패스 등 30개 넘는 세부항목을 분석해 점수와 순위를 매긴다.     손흥민은 12월에만 프리미어리그에서 6골-2도움을 몰아쳤다. 지난 24일 에버턴전에서 2골-1도움을 올리며 파워랭킹 1위로 올라섰다. 지난 27일 본머스전에서 2골을 몰아치면서 파워랭킹 선두를 유지했다. 손흥민은 2~5위 펠리페 안데르손(웨스트 햄), 루카 디뉴(에버턴), 폴 포그바(맨체스터 유나이티드), 크리스티안 에릭센(토트넘)을 따돌렸다.     손흥민은 올 시즌 전체 파워랭킹에서는 2만6453점을 받아 28위를 기록했다. 모하메드 살라(리버풀)가 4만2960점으로 1위, 에당 아자르(첼시)가 4만2605점으로 2위다.                 지난 9일 레스터시티전에서 환상적인 감아차기슛으로 골을 터트린 손흥민. Tottenham's Heung-Min Son has retained his place at the top of the Power Rankings after another scintillating display in midweek.

The South Korean scored twice for the second game running as Spurs thrashed Bournemouth 5-0 on Wednesday, while Christian Eriksen (No 5) climbed five places after opening the scoring and assisting Harry Kane (No 8) at Wembley.

West Ham's Felipe Anderson surged into the runner-up position with a match-winning double at Southampton - rising into No 3 spot in the season chart.

Manchester United interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claimed another convincing victory with a 3-1 win against Huddersfield, with Paul Pogba (No 4) scoring twice and Jesse Lingard (No 10) retaining his top-10 standing.

Everton full-back Lucas Digne (No 3) maintained his impressive form with two stunning goals from range during a 5-1 goal-fest at Burnley.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah (No 6) slipped three places despite converting a penalty during Liverpool's 4-0 win over Newcastle, while Chelsea's Eden Hazard (No 7) returned to the top 10 with a match-winning double at Watford.

The Power Rankings methodology reflects a player's performance by awarding points for 34 different stats.

Hyeon Chung is ready to start preparing for the 2019 season. The South Korean player will have a busy schedule as he competes at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi, then the Pune Open, ASB Classic in Auckland and the Australian Open.

정현, 세계 8위 도미니크 팀 완파 무바달라 챔피언십 5위    한국 테니스 간판 정현(한국체대, 25위)이 세계랭킹 8위 도미니크 팀(오스트리아)를 완파했다. 정현은 12월 28일(현지시간) 아랍에미리트연합 아부다비에서 열린 무바달라챔피언십 5~6위 결정전에서 팀을 세트스코어 2-0(6-2 6-3)으로 꺾고 5위를 차지했다. 전날 세계 랭킹 6위 케빈 앤더슨(남아공)에게 1-2로 역전패를 당해 5~6위 결정전으로 밀린 정현은 팀을 상대로 완승을 거두며 유종의 미를 거뒀다. 출발이 좋았다. 1세트 초반부터 상대 서브게임을 두 차례나 브레이크하며 6-2 완승을 거뒀다. 2세트에도 기선제압에 성공하며 4-0으로 앞섰다. 이후 연달아 세 게임을 허용하며 팀의 거센 추격을 받긴 했지만, 서브 게임을 지킨 뒤 상대 서브게임을 브레이크해 승리를 확정했다. 한편, 정현은 인도 푸네로 이동해 31일부터 열리는 2019시즌 개막전 ATP투어 타타오픈에 출전한다. 정재열 기자 jungjeyoul1@mbcplus.com [엠스플뉴스]

In a recent press conference Chung recalled his 2018 Australian Open run where he retired due to a foot injury in the semifinals while being down two sets to love to Roger Federer. 'It was an amazing feeling to be facing Roger Federer, even though I had to retire from the match.

I also remember the time I defeated Djokovic', said Chung. The 22-year-old also commented on his fellow younger players's success, including Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alexander Zverev. 'I draw extra motivation from watching players that I've known since junior days.

But I don't want to get too ahead of myself', he warned. This year Chung did not compete for several months due to injuries, which had happened in the previous seasons as well. That's why he now aims to stay fit in 2019.

'I'll try to play next season without any injury..I'll also look to be more aggressive on the court and finish in a higher place than this year', said Chung. Chung is facing the South African Kevin Anderson on Thursday in Abu Dhabi.
