암바니-피라말 가문은 이번 결혼식에 최대 1억달러를 쓴 것으로 추산된다고 현지 언론은 전했다. 양가는 우다이푸르 지역 주민 5,100명에게도 나흘 동안 하루 3끼 식사를 베풀었다. 결혼식이 열린 건물 이름은 대서양의 신화 속 섬에서 따온 ‘안틸리아’다. 2010년 완공된 이 건물의 현재 가치는 20억달러 수준으로 알려졌다. 개인 소유 주택으로는 세계에서 가장 비싸고 높은 건물이다. 27층으로 지어졌지만 층고가 높아 실제 높이는 일반 건물 40∼60층(174m)에 달한다. 완공 직후에는 처음 낸 한 달 전기요금이 700만루피(약 10만달러)나 돼 당시 화제를 모으기도 했다. 옥상에는 헬기 이착륙장만 3곳이 마련되는 등 초특급 호텔 이상의 호화로운 시설로 가득하다. 다만, 수억명이 여전히 굶주리는 것으로 알려진 인도에서 이같은 초호화 결혼식이 열린다는 점에 비판적인 시선도 적지 않다. 미주한국일보 |

1. Ahead of the wedding on December 12, Ambanis organised week-long pre-wedding celebration function in Udaipur. Many top politicians, industrialists, sports and Bollywood actors attended the pre-wedding bash in Udaipur. Former US first lady Hillary Clinton, Saudi Arabia Oil Minister Khalid al-Falih, US singer Beyoncé, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and newly-weds actress Priyanka Chopra and singer Nick Jonas were among the guests joined the party.

2. The Ambanis organised 'Anna Seva' and fed over 5,100 people, a majority of them with special abilities for three days in Udaipur. A specially curated exhibit called the 'Swadesh Bazaar' was also set up where traditional Indian Crafts and art forms from all the different regions of the country were showcased.
3. Apart from all the Bollywood stars, the Ambanis managed to rope in American pop superstar Beyonce Knowles. Multiple reports state that Beyonce charges $3 million to $4 million (About Rs 21-28 crore) for private appearances. One can only guess how much Ambani paid to hire Beyonce for a private concert in Udaipur.

4. Multiple media reports have estimated the cost of the week-long extravaganza at around $100 million (around Rs 710 crore). However, a Bloomberg report citing people familiar with the planning saying that the cost of the marriage is not more than $15 million (nearly Rs 110 crore). Billionaire industrialist, philanthropist and former Chairman of Tata Sons Ratan Tata and Chairman and Managing Director of Raymond Group Gautam Singhania also attended the wedding.

5. The Ambanis will host a reception for the newlywed couple at Jio Garden, Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai on December 14. The reception will see the biggest of Bollywood celebrities, sports personalities, and industrialists in attendance. Not just a reception, the Ambanis will also be hosting a musical concert for their guests.
Worth mentioning here is that Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal got engaged Lake Como, Italy earlier this year in September. The engagement ceremony was celebrated for about three days. Anand Piramal is a son of Ajay Piramal who was the chairman of Piramal Group & Shriram Group. Now, Anand is the Executive Director of Piramal Group. Isha Ambani is the director of Reliance Jio Infocomm and Reliance Retail.
