유가하락에도 불구하고 카타르의 400억불 규모의 메가프로젝트 계획은 그대로 추진될 예정이다. 프로젝트에는 고속도로, 하마드국제공항과 하마드 항만 확장공사, 그리고 도하메트로와 장거리 철도 네크워크 구축 등  쉐이크 압둘라 빈 나세르 알 타니 수상 후원하는 도하 카타르 교통포럼에서 가장 주목을 받은 프로젝트는 약 80억불에 달하는 하마드 국제공항의 확장 계획이었다. 또한 하마드 항만의 2개의 추가 컨테이너 터미널 건설계획도 주요 사안 중 하나였다. 이상의 카타르 메가프로젝트의 1단계는 2016년 말까지 완료하는 것으로 에이콤의 공정책임자는 언급했다. 도하지하철은 공기를 맞추기 위해 21대 TBM이 동시에 동원되는 세계기록도 보유하고 있다. 이에 따라 50KM에 달하는 터널구간이 거의 완료 단계에 있다. 카타르의 200억불이 넘는 철도네트워크구축사업에는 8월말 현재 78백만인시에 해당하는 총 26천명의 근로자가 일하고 있다. 루사일 트램은 5개의 정거장 중 4개가 완료됐고 1단계 구간 입찰이 진행되고 있는 장거리 철도건설프로젝트는 내년 초에 시공사가 결정될 예정이다. 240개의 인터체인지와 360개의 교량이 포함하는 1,000km에 달하는 고속도로 신설 및 개량 에는 108억불의 예산이 소요될 예정이다 카타르 메가프로젝트는 이미 43개의 계약이 끝났으며 15개의 계약이 진행 중이며 추가 23개의 계약 건들은 추후 추진 계획이다. by Ki Chul Hwang  Conpaper  Editor Distributor  황기철  콘페이퍼 에디터

Regardless of falling oil prices, Qatar is going ahead with more than $40bn worth of planned transport projects.

The projects include the the expressway programme, expansion of Hamad International Airport (HIA) and Hamad Port, the Doha Metro and long-distance passenger and freight network.

Under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, at the recent Qatar Transport Forum, held in Doha, one of the highlights was the public reveal of plans for the estimated $8bn expansion of Hamad International Airport (HIA).

The NDIA Steering Committee Project Director Peter Daley, outlined the procurement timeline and the project scope which includes an expansion of the main terminal building and concourse D and E.

Also revealed were plans for two additional container terminals at Hamad Port that would increase the QR27bn ($7.3bn) project’s handling capacity to 6 million TEUs by 2020.

 

The first phase of the megaproject is due to open at the end of 2016, Aecom’s programme director Tim Verdon told the delegates.

The Doha Metro project has a world record of 21 tunnel boring machines being used which to date, have completed almost 50 kilometres of tunnels, informed Qatar Rail's chief of service delivery Andrew Tailor.

Qatar’s $20bn-plus integrated transport plan has a total of 26,000 workers working on the project, equating to more than 78 million man hours worked as of end of August.

Tailor outlined that work on the Lusail tram scheme has four of the five at grade stations completed, while the tender for the first phase design and build of the long-distance freight and rail network will be issued to contractors early next year.

Eng. Nasser al-Kuwari, manager of Highway Projects department at Ashghal, presented an overview of the QR40bn ($10.8bn) expressway programme, which involves 1,000km of new or upgraded roads, 240 major interchanges and 360 bridges.

The project has already seen 43 major contracts awarded and a total of 15 contracts are either in the market or are being prepared, while a further 23 are in the planning stage.
