엘론 머스크의 '하이퍼 루프' 프로젝트
미래의 첨단 교통 인프라 계획이다.
이 하이퍼 루프 프로젝트가 점차 현실화되고 있다.
하이퍼루프는 1500km(900마일) 미만 떨어진 도시를 잇는 교통수단으로 적합하며 그 이상의 거리에서는 초음속 비행기가 더 빠르고 경제적이다.
미래의 매우 빠른 교통수단의 유일한 방안은 땅 위나 아래에 특별한 튜브를 까는 것이다.
건물 사이에 우편물이나 짐꾸러기를 보낼 때 사용하는 공기압 튜브를 확대한 개념이라 생각하면 된다.
하이퍼 루프는 공기 쿠션 위의 압축튜브를 통해 초음속으로 차량과 승객 화물 등을 운반할 수 있으며 LA~샌프란시스코까지 35분만에 갈 수 있다.
예상 속도는 962 km/h~1,220 km/h
2012년 처음으로 하이퍼 루프 계획을 발표했던 엘론 머스크의 민간 우주개발업체 스페이스X는 이번 달에 1.6km의 시험노선을 캘리포니아 호선에 건설한다고 발표했다.
오스틴에 위치한 아르고 디자인사는 하이퍼 루프 터미널, 플랫폼, 캡슐과 인테리어 디자인 개발에 참여하기 결정했다.

One of the most radical yet perceivable proposals for the future is entrepreneur Elon Musk's Hyperloop - a high-speed ground transport system that launches aerodynamic capsules around the world. It carries passengers, vehicles, and other cargo through a pressurized tube on cushions of air at supersonic speeds. A trip to Los Angeles to San Francisco would only take 35 minutes, with an average speed of around 598 mph (962 km/h), and a top speed of 760 mph (1,220 km/h).
Musk first mentioned the Hyperloop in July 2012, and since then it's only gained steam. Just this month, SpaceXannounced that it will build a 1 mile (1.6 km) long test track to be located next to SpaceX's Hawthorne, California facility. The track will be used to test pod designs supplied by third parties, that are entered into a design competition.
Although there has been much discussion about the Hyperloop, many details have not been released about what it will look like. So, when Austin-based design firm argodesign reviewed Musk's proposal, they jumped at the chance to develop a series of conceptual renderings showing the Hyperloop terminals, platforms, capsules, and capsule interiors.
