터키, 철도 인프라 사업 투자 확대 계획

    아딜 카라이스마일오울루(Adil Karaismailoglu) 터키 교통인프라부 장관은 터키내 철도 인프라 투자액을 늘리고, 2023년까지 국내 철도 길이를 16,675km로 증설할 계획이라고  발표했다.

During his speech at the opening of the Turkish Railway Summit on Wednesday, Adil Karaismailoglu said the reform process will expand the geographical scope of the country's railways. In line with the 2023 vision, he added, the government aims at increasing the share of railways in passenger transportation from 1.3% to 3.8%. "We are working at a great speed to produce national technologies to rehabilitate our existing lines and develop service-oriented, smart and value-added transportation," he stressed. Stating a total of 403 new generation national freight wagons have been put into service so far, he said 100 more freight wagons will be added to this figure. Saying Turkey has progressed in the railway transportation, he stressed: "By 2023, the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway line connecting Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia will contribute to the trade target of $15 billion set by Turkey and Azerbaijan." 터키 철도 인프라 사업 투자를 통해 현재 자국내 여객 수송량에서 철도가 차지하는 비중인 1.3%를 3.8%까지 증가시킬 수 있으며, 아제르바이잔·조지아 등 인근국과 연결하는 바쿠(Baku)-트빌리시(Tbilisi)-카르스(Kars) 철도를 통해 2023년까지 터키와 아제르바이잔 간의 무역 규모는 150억 달러로 증가될 것으로 예상된다.

2003~2020년 동안 터키의 철도 인프라 투자 비용은 미화 약 230억불로 집계되고 있다.

터키철도청(TCDD, Turkish State Railways) 청장인 알리 일산 우이군(Ali Ihsan Uygun)은 현재 터키 철도 산업을 개혁해야 한다고 지적하고, 철도 산업의 지속가능성을 통해 물류 운송 수요와 소비자들 기대 충족을 위한 철도 인프라가 개선될 필요가 있다고 강조한바 있다.

최근 터키 철도교통을 통한 자국내 승객·화물 수송량 비중은 해마다 급격하게 하락하고 있으며, 실제로 자국내 철도 1만 2,803km 중 고속철 구간은 1,200km에 불과하여, 현재 터키철도청이 독점으로 운영하는 국내 열차 노선을 민간화하여 민간투자사들이 함께 운영할 수 있도록 하여 철도 산업의 경쟁력 강화와 서비스질을 확대할 계획을 가지고 있다.
