SK건설이 벨기에 PDH 플랜트 FEED 수주에 성공하며 서유럽 PDH 플랜트 시장에 진출했다.
SK건설은 지난 17일 영국 런던에서 글로벌 화학 기업인 이네오스와 벨기에 앤트워프 석유화학단지에 PDH 플랜트 건설을 위한 FEED 계약을 체결했다고 18일 밝혔다.
PDH는 프로판가스에서 수소를 제거해 프로필렌을 생산하는 공정이다. 생산된 프로필렌은 주로 폴리프로필렌으로 중합돼 포장용 필름, 접착테이프, 섬유 및 카펫 등의 원료로 사용된다. 프로필렌은 에틸렌과 함께 석유화학 제품의 기초 원료로서 석유화학산업의 근간이 된다. 최근 관련 산업의 성장과 글로벌 수요 증가로 세계 굴지의 화학 기업들은 PDH 플랜트 설비 투자를 늘리고 있다.

INEOS SELECTS ANTWERP FOR €3-BILLION PETROCHEMICALS INVESTMENT By Mary Page Bailey | January 15, 2019 Ineos Enterprises (London; www.ineos.com) announces that is has selected Antwerp, Belgium as the location for its latest petrochemicals investment, consisting of an ethane gas cracker and world-scale propane dehydration (PDH) unit in Europe. The €3 billion investment will be the biggest ever made by Ineos and is the first new cracker to be built in Europe in 20 years. The investment is a game changer for the chemical sectors and will bring huge benefits to the Belgium and wider European economies. Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Founder and Chairman of INEOS says: “Our investment in a gas cracker and world-scale PDH unit is the largest of its kind in Europe for more than a generation and is an important development for the European petrochemical industry. We believe this investment will reverse years of decline in the sector.” The new petrochemical complex will be co-located with INEOS’ existing sites in Europe making polymers and will be connected by pipeline to a number of INEOS ethylene and propylene derivative units in the region. INEOS already has a major presence in Belgium, employing 2500 people across 9 manufacturing sites, with 6 of these located in Antwerp and 3 Research and Technology centres. John McNally, CEO of the Project said: “The selection of Antwerp as a location for these new assets is a significant step-forward for the development of this project. This decision builds upon our long-standing relationship with the Port of Antwerp, the City of Antwerp, and the governments of Flanders and Belgium.” Rob Ingram, CEO INEOS Olefins & Polymers Europe. 지난 17일 영국 런던에서 진행된 계약식에는 안재현 SK건설 사장, 김철진 SK어드밴스드 대표, 거드 프랑켄 이네오스 올레핀·폴리머 노스 회장, 존 맥널리 이네오스 프로젝트 원 사장 등 관계자 10여 명이 참석했다.

이번 프로젝트는 벨기에 수도 브뤼셀에서 북쪽으로 50㎞ 떨어진 앤트워프 석유화학단지에 연산 75만톤 PDH 플랜트의 FEED를 수행하는 사업이다.
SK건설은 앞으로 1년간 FEED를 수행하며 FEED 이후 추가 발주되는 본공사(EPC)의 우선협상대상자로 선정됐다. SK가스 자회사인 SK어드밴스드 역시 이번 프로젝트에 참여하며 FEED 단계부터 상업 가동 기간까지 사업 전 단계에 있어 축적된 PDH 플랜트 운영 노하우를 별도의 계약을 통해 이네오스에 전수한다. SK건설과 SK어드밴스드는 향후에도 양사가 가진 우수한 역량을 결합해 발주처에 프로젝트 개발부터 투자, 설계, 운영·관리까지 최적화된 통합서비스를 제안하는 사업모델을 지속적으로 추진할 예정이다.
