SanDisk Unveils the First-Ever 1TB MicroSD Card

Who hasn’t run out of space on their phone? We’ve all been there, ready to take a photo or video and then realizing we need to quickly delete other images in order to have space for the new ones. Thanks to SanDisk, it will be much harder to run out of storage for your precious memories. Their new 1TB microSD is the first of its kind, allowing you to shoot seemingly endless amounts of 4K video and high-resolution photos from smartphones, drones, action cameras, or any other device that uses a microSD.

The move comes as memory cards keep increasing the amount of storage they provide. In early 2019, Lexar announced the release of its 1TB SDXC memory card and now SanDisk is following suit with its microSD. Built for extreme weather conditions, SanDisk says that its 1TB microSD is temperature proof, waterproof, shockproof, and x-ray proof. This is great news for content creators who make use of a GoPro or DJI Osmo Action and want a memory card that can survive in extreme situations.
The SanDisk 1TB Extreme MicroSD isn’t just designed to give you lots of storage, but also to work at lightning speed. Not only does it meet the new UHS Speed Class 3 (U3) and UHS Video Speed Class 30 (V30) for 4K UHD, it can also reach up to 160MB/s read speed and 90MB/s write speed. And, of course, it can be paired with an adaptor for use as a standard SD card.
All that extra storage isn’t cheap though. The SanDisk 1TB Extreme MicroSD is currently being sold for $449.99. It’s available for purchase via the official SanDisk website and Amazon. If you don’t need quite that much space, SanDisk also offers a 512GB Extreme MicroSD for $199.99, which is also available via SanDisk and Amazon.
