자율주행 원격조종장비 시험…가을께 개장
볼보건설기계그룹(Volvo CE)은 스웨덴 에스킬스투나에 전기 자율주행 솔루션을 위한 시험장과 시연장을 구축한다고 8일 밝혔다.
건설기계 업계에서 시험장 구축에 나선 것은 볼보건설기계그룹이 처음이다. 에스킬스투나는 유럽에서 가장 큰 볼보건설기계 부품공장과 함께 볼보건설기계 박물관이 있는 곳이기도 하다.
Electric, autonomous transport to be demoed at Volvo CE’s Eskilstuna
Volvo Construction Equipment says it is building the world’s first test and demonstration area for electric, autonomous transport solutions at its Customer Center in Eskilstuna, Sweden.
Construction has already begun on the brand-new area, which will be dedicated to testing and demonstrating the latest innovations in sustainable power, connectivity and autonomous solutions.
This 66,000 m² innovation zone will include a secure track for full-electric, automated and teleoperated machines with charging infrastructure and 5G connectivity, a control and training room building, a spectator stand and training area for the Volvo Co-Pilot assist functions.
Chief among the innovations on display will be the TARA autonomous transport solution from Volvo Autonomous Solutions for defined sites, such as quarries or mines.

6만6000㎡ 크기의 시험장에 있는 보안트랙엔 완전 전기구동·자율주행 원격조종장비를 시험할 수 있는 충전 인프라와 5세대 이동통신(5G) 연결, 제어실과 훈련장, 관람석, 중장비 작업지원 시스템 ‘볼보 코 파일럿’ 교육장이 마련될 예정이다. 이는 오는 가을께 개장한다.
볼보건설기계그룹은 시험·시연장에서 차세대 건설기계 산업을 주도할 지속가능한 에너지·연결성·자율주행을 위한 최신 혁신 솔루션을 시험·시연할 계획이다. 보안트랙 내 하나의 제어실에 배치된 두 대의 원격 조종 장치를 통해 채석장이나 광산 작업에 최적화된 원격 제어 장비의 시험도 진행할 예정이다. 또 다른 제어실에서는 볼보의 장비 가동시간 및 생산성 향상 서비스가 고객의 장비 유지관리 및 가동 비용을 얼마나 절감시킬 수 있는지 실시간으로 확인할 수 있다.
칼레 스킬재스터(Calle Skillsater) 볼보 자동화 솔루션 사업부 장비 개발 엔지니어는 “최첨단 시설 내에서 현장 가동 환경 설정과 운영, ‘TA15’ 전기 자율주행 덤프트럭의 충전과 보관, 제어실과 보안시설 관리에 이르기까지 타라(TARA) 솔루션의 모든 것을 선보일 수 있어 기쁘다”고 말했다.
볼보건설기계는 국내에서 한국토지주택공사(LH)가 추진하는 세종 스마트시티 프로젝트에 건설 자동화 부문 파트너로 참여한다. 조성공사 부지 내 시범사업구역에서 원격제어를 포함한 자동화 건설기술, 친환경 고효율 전기굴착기 등을 투입하고 검증할 계획이다.
