Renowned architecture firm Zaha Hadid Architects will soon design yet another impressive high rise for an expanding business hub in China. Their Tower C winning competition entry will integrate into the Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base for the Greater Bay Area of Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau. This important landmark will help further support Shenzhen’s reputation as a center for technological innovation and advancement.

The multi-use development will accomplish this mission by providing workspaces for approximately 300,000 people while creating space to host international events such as conferences and exhibitions in addition to new public amenities like shopping, dining, and hotel accommodations.
The tower is designed with an open base to better integrate into planned resources in the Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base. Future plans include a transit center which will be served by the Shenzhen Metro Network, residential developments, and nature areas such as coastal habitat and botanical spaces.
Zaha Hadid Architects designed the elegant opening at the base to demonstrate that the tower is for the city and not just for those using the workspaces. The curved floor areas, for instance, connect the towers and provide more public programs. Exterior renderings demonstrate lush green spaces that serve the building users but also help to connect to the surrounding parks.
Like many projects designed by the firm, the tower parametric design creates an unbroken skin that acts as the façade for each individual tower and a connector for the sweeping gesture between them. The placement of this skin and its absence in the centralized podium means that each tower has plenty of access to daylight and incredible views of the growing city below.
The clever curtain-wall system also provides valuable services to help meet the building’s sustainability goals. Openings in the system allow for natural air to enter as needed while shading devices help limit the light entering and heating the space past comfort levels. Other green measures include recycling, solar energy and water collection systems, and aquaponic gardens all designed to help Tower C become a sustainable and innovative addition to the Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base.
Zaha Hadid Architects will design Tower C to serve the growing business hub in the Greater Bay Area of Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau.
The development will provide workspaces for 300,000 people while creating space to host international events.
