    미국 동반로봇 업체인 무어봇(Moorebot)이 홈 카메라 기능을 갖춘 자율주행 로봇 ‘스카우트 로봇(Scout Robot)’을 ‘CES 2021’에서 공개한다.

“The Moorebot Scout is an autonomous AI robot that lets you monitor, discover and explore the world around you,” says Jun Ye, CEO at Moorebot at Pilot Labs. “Scout’s applications range from an intelligent mobile home camera, a pet companion, a surveillance tool for handyman, and an inspiring, modern learning toy for kids.”

Moorebot’s capabilities include Smart Home integration with either Amazon Alexa or Google Home, monocular SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping), and audio and visual intelligence that enables Scout to recognize, follow and interact with individual persons and pets.

스카우트는 자율주행 홈 로봇으로, 카메라를 장착해 실내를 돌아다니며 사무실이나 집안 내부 상황을 감시, 모니터링 하도록 설계됐다. 야간 촬영이 가능하고 크기도 작아 가구 밑 등 접근하기 어려운 공간을 돌아다니며 사각지대를 해소한다. 집에 혼자 있는 반려동물을 원격으로 관찰하는 데 사용하거나 아이를 위한 학습용 장난감으로 활용될 수 있다.

로봇은 아마존 알렉사(Amazon Alexa) 또는 구글 홈(Google Home)과 같은 음성인공지능 스마트 기기와 연동이 가능하다. 슬램(SLAM) 기술이 적용돼 낯선 공간에서도 외부 도움 없이 주변 환경 지도를 작성할 수 있다. 대상 인식 기능을 통해 사람이나 동물을 추적하고, 양방향 오디오 기능으로 반려동물과 커뮤니케이션할 수 있는 능력을 갖췄다. 한 번 충전으로 최대 2시간 동안 사용이 가능하다.

모듈식으로 제작돼 사용자가 원하는 애플리케이션을 구현할 수도 있다. 교육용 프로그램인 스크래치(Scratch)를 사용하면 새로운 기능을 추가하는 것도 가능하다. 사용자의 사생활 침해가 발생하지 않도록 가장 안전한 비디오 스트리밍 서비스로 꼽히는 TUTK의 P2P 프로토콜을 사용한다. 오는 3~4월쯤 179달러(약 19만원)에 판매될 예정이다.
