한국 고등학생들이 올해 개최된 생물과 수학, 정보 분야 국제올림피아드에서 전원 메달을 수상했다.
과학기술정보통신부와 한국과학창의재단은 지난 7~9월 온라인으로 개최된 생물과 수학, 정보 분야 4개 올림피아드에 국내 고등학생 22명이 참가해 금메달 8명, 은메달 11명, 동메달 3명 등 22명 전원이 메달을 수상했다고 16일 밝혔다.

Polish students win six medals at Int'l Mathematics Olympiad 2020 Six medals - two gold, three silver and one bronze - was the total haul of Polish students at the 61st International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO 2020), the Ministry of National Education announced on Monday.
Poland's medal total placed the country sixth in the general classification, equal with Italy. The International Mathematics Olympiad is the world's most prestigious mathematics championship. It is contested by secondary school students from the world over and is the oldest single-subject international Olympiad. This year's event was held on September 21-22 with the results announced on September 28. 7월 13~14일 개최된 제1회 온라인수학토론대회에서는 권민재(서울과고3)·김지민(서울과고2)·서형석(서울과고3) 학생이 금메달을, 김서진(서울과고3)·김준수(서울과고3)·이동해(서울과고3)·최서영(서울과고3) 학생이 은메달을, 허은수(서울과고2) 학생이 동메달을 수상했다. 올해 처음 개최된 이 대회에는 전세계 75개국에서 553명이 참여했다.
8월 11~12일 개최된 제31회 국제생물올림피아드 챌린지에서는 인희원 학생(경기과고3)이 금메달을 수상하고 김건오(서울과고3)·윤재원(대구과고3) 학생이 은메달, 김대일(서울과고3) 학생이 동메달을 수상했다. 이 대회에는 51개국에서 204명이 참가했다.
105개국 616명이 참여한 9월 20~28일 개최된 제61회 국제수학올림피아드에서는 고상연(서울과고3)·허은수(서울과고2) 학생이 금메달을 수상했다. 권민재(서울과고3)·김지민(서울과고2)·김준수(서울과고3) 학생이 은메달, 김동현(서울과고1) 학생이 동메달을 수상했다.

조향숙 한국과학창의재단 이사장 직무대행은 “앞으로도 다양한 나라 학생들과 건강한 경쟁을 통해 우수한 인재가 될 수 있도록 지원하겠다”고 말했다.
