이미 지난해 일본서 일부 촬영 마쳐

    로봇이 드디어 영화에서 첫 주연으로 발탁됐다.

미국 '할리우드 리포터'에 따르면 곧 개봉될 7천만(약 841억)달러가 들어간 공상과학 영화에 '에리카(Erica)'라는 이름의 휴머노이드 로봇이 주연을 맡을 예정이다.

일본 과학자인 이시구로 히로시(Hiroshi Ishiguro)와 오가와 고헤이(Kohei Ogawa)가 로봇공학 연구의 일환으로 에리카를 제작했으며, 메소드 연기의 원리를 인공지능에 적용해 그녀에게 연기를 가르쳤다.

영화 관계자는 "기존 배우들은 연기를 하는 데 있어 자기 삶의 경험을 녹여낸다"며 "하지만 에리카는 인생 경험이 없다. 그녀는 아무런 사전준비도 없이 만들어졌다. 동작 속도를 조절하고, 느낌을 통해 이야기하며, 캐릭터 개발 및 바디 랭귀지를 지도하는 일 등은 로봇이 1대 1세션을 통해 동작 및 감정을 흉내 내는 방식으로 진행됐다"고 말했다.

영화 제작자들은 지난해 일본에서 이 로봇에 대한 장면 일부를 촬영했으며, 오는 2021년 6월에 유럽에서 나머지 부분을 촬영할 계획이다.
