세계적인 건축가 비토리오 그레고티 코로나19로 사망

1992년 바르셀로나 하계 올림픽 경기장을 설계한 이탈리아의 도시계획가이자 건축가 비토리오 그레고티가 신종 코로나바이러스 감염증(코로나19)에 걸려 사망했다. 92세. 영국 일간지 가디언과 건축전문 매체 월드아키텍츠닷컴 등에 따르면, 그레고티는 코로나19 확진 판정을 받고 이탈리아 밀라노의 산 주세페 병원에 입원했으며, 폐렴 증세를 보이다 15일(현지시간) 사망했다. 현재 그의 부인 마리아나 마자도 코로나19 감염증 치료를 받고 있는 것으로 알려졌다.

Italian Architect Vittorio Gregotti Dies of Coronavirus at 92 Vittorio Gregotti, Italian architect, co-responsible for the design of 1992 Barcelona Summer Olympics stadium and the 1990 Football World Cup Marassi stadium has died of pneumonia on Sunday 15 March 2020, after catching the coronavirus. Gregotti was being hospitalized with his wife Mariana Mazza in Milan. Born in 1927, in Novara, Italy, Vittorio Gregotti is a graduate of the Politecnico di Milano. Architect and editor, Gregotti was a contributor and later on the editor-in-chief of the architectural magazine Casabella. The Italian architect curated many exhibitions in his country and lectured in many renowned universities on the topic of architectural theories. In 1975, he curated Regarding the Stucky Mill, a precursor for the Venice Architecture Biennal. 포르투갈 벨렘 문화센터, 프랑스 프로방스 대극장 설계
월드아키텍츠닷컴에 따르면, 그레고티는 이탈리아에서 존경받는 건축가이자 교육가, 이론가였다. 1927년 이탈리아의 피에몬트 주 노바라에서 태어났으며, 52년 밀라노 공과대학을 졸업했다. 이탈리아 건축 잡지 '카사벨라'에서 53년부터 1955년까지 기자로 일했으며, 그 후 1963년까지 편집장을 맡았다. 74년 밀라노에서 자신의 건축 설계 스튜디오 '그레고티 어소시에티'를 설립했으며, 81년부터 96년까지 밀라노 공과대학 교수로 재직했다.

그레고티는 1990년 이탈리아 월드컵이 열린 제노바의 마라시 스타디움과 밀라노의 아르킴볼디 오페라 극장을 설계했다. 이 밖에도 상하이의 푸장 뉴타운 주택지구, 포르투갈 리스의 벨렘 문화센터(마누엘 살가도 공동 설계)와 프랑스의 프로방스 대극장 등의 설계로 이름을 떨쳤다.
이탈리아의 동료 건축가 스테파노 보에리는 자신의 페이스북에 "그레고티는 이탈리아 문화의 이야기를 창조한 국제 건축의 거장이었다"며 그를 추모했다. 다리오 프란체스치니 이탈리아 문화부 장관도 "세계에 이탈리아의 이름을 떨친 위대한 이탈리아 건축가 겸 도시계획가를 잃었다는 소식에 애도를 표한다"고 말했다.
