Dubai ranks fifth in world for hotel construction

Dubai has ranked in the world's top five cities for the number of hotel rooms under construction.
The emirate ranked fifth for rate of rooms under construction by project count, according to the latest Global Construction Pipeline Trend Report from Lodging Econometrics (LE), as cited by Arabian Business.
The report revealed that Dubai has 104 projects and 29,948 rooms in the pipeline.
New York ranked first on the list with 187 projects and 32,136 rooms, closely followed by Jakarta with 130 projects and 22,851 rooms and Seoul in third with 128 projects and 37,187 rooms.
While, Shanghai ranked fourth with 114 projects and 24,285 rooms.
In June last year, it was reported that Dubai was driving hotel developments in the MENA region with 36,523 rooms and 96 projects in the city's pipline - all of which are set for opening in time for the World Expo 2020.
A reported by TopHotelProjects in conjunction wih The Hotel Show Dubai, said Dubai had been leading hospitality growth in the region for the last three years, with actitivty now at an all time high.
