Almost 50 years since we first stepped foot on the Moon, humanity looks like it could be on the verge of its grandest space adventure yet, by setting up a "Moon village."
Along with the help of the world’s other spacefaring nations, the European Space Agency (ESA) has ambitious plans to start establishing a Moon village in the next 20 years. Part of this idea is to establish a base for scientific research, a bit like how the International Space Station currently functions. However, there’s also talk of using the village for purposes such as mining and even as a tourist holiday destination.
In this ESA video, Johann-Dietrich Wörner, director general of ESA, shows you through some of the plans that ESA have up their sleeve in regards to setting up camp on the Moon.
