A driver miraculously survived after a huge circular blade came flying towards him and cut through the front of his car.
The man, named only as Mr Xiang, was driving along a motorway in Chongqing in south west China on Wednesday when he heard a loud bang and saw the blade spinning towards him.
The blade had fallen off a truck that had crashed into the dividing barrier while travelling on the other side of the motorway, reported the People's Daily Online.
Damage: The large blade span into the front of the car, leaving a hole that was 20 inches deep
The 60-inch circular blade sliced right into the front of the car, leaving a hole that was 20 inches deep.
Mr Xiang described the terrifying ordeal, explaining how he gripped hold of the steering wheel and was eventually able to bring the car to a halt.
He said: 'I heard the huge noise and all the white smoke ahead of me. At that point I almost lost control of my car.'
He added that he was barely able to stand up when he got out of the car because his legs were shaking.
Local authorities said the large circular blades on board the truck had not been properly secured, meaning a number of them were thrown off the back when the driver lost control and crashed.
The one that hit Mr Xiang's car had fallen over the dividing barrier.
Truck: The blade had been on board the back of a truck that crashed on the other side of the motorway
Lethal: The circular blades, which measured 60 inches in diameter, had not been properly secured
Ren Gu, an official from the local highway department, said that the blade missed the driver's side of the car by just a couple of feet.
Neither Mr Xiang nor the driver of the truck were injured in the accident.
It is not yet clear whether the truck driver will face any charges. Some local reports suggest that tiredness may have been a factor in the accident.
