V-22 오스프리(V-22 Osprey)는 미국의 수직이착륙 (VTOL: vertical takeoff and landing)과 단거리 이착륙 (STOL: short takeoff and landing) 능력을 가진 비행기이다. 이것은 전통적인 헬리콥터의 임무를 수행하면서도, 보다 먼 작전거리와 터보프롭 비행기의 빠른 속도를 가지도록 개발된 것이다. 미해병 CH-46 시나이트 헬기의 전투행동반경이 296 km인데 비해 미해병 MV-22 오스프리의 작전반경은 722 km,항속거리 3590km이다.미국의 Bell Helicopter Textron사에서 개발되고 제작된다. 이 공장은 보잉 헬리콥터와 파트너 관계를 맺고 있다. 출처 위키 |

미국 하와이에서 훈련 중이던 미군 해병대의 수직이착륙 수송기 MV22 ‘오스프리’가 17일(현지시간) 착륙 실패로 화염에 휩싸여 해병대원 1명이 사망하고 20여 명이 후송됐다고 일본 NHK 등이 보도했다. 사고 당시 오스프리에는 22명이 타고 있었으며 2명은 중상을 입은 것으로 알려졌다. 하와이에서는 현재 미 해병대와 해군 주최로 한국을 포함해 일본, 필리핀, 말레이시아, 싱가포르, 베트남 등 아시아태평양 23개국이 참여하는 상륙부대 콘퍼런스가 열리고 있다.
