The bed that could stop you from SNORING: Smart mattress adjusts to sleepers' bodies to open the airways

  • The 360 Smart Bed was unveiled this week at the CES technology show
  • As you move in the night the bed will re-adjust to keep you comfortable
  • If it senses you snoring it will gently raise your head to open the airways
  • It is unclear when the bed will go on sale or how much it will cost

When you've just fallen into a deep sleep, there's nothing worse than being abruptly woken by your partner snorinj.

But the angst of dealing with a snorer could soon be a thing of the past.

A new smart bed has been designed which adjusts itself to fit different body positions, even raising the owner's head to clear the airways if it detects snoring.

THE SMART BED

The smart bed comes with a range of new features to improve the quality of sleep.

As sleep positions change during the night, the bed will self-adjust so each partner can sleep comfortably.

Two air chambers within the mattress can inflate or deflate to gently contour to each partner's side, back or stomach as they move.

The base of the bed will also gently tilt the owner's head upwards if it detects them snoring, opening the airways.

And for those who dread the thought of climbing into a cold bed, the smart bed can even warm up owners' feet.

Data about the quality of your sleep can also be collected and reviewed on a partnering app

Sleep Number will phase in the new beds online and in its US shops, beginning in the first half of 2017.

The firm has not revealed how much the beds will cost, but in a statement said that they 'will be priced similar to Sleep Number's current mattresses and adjustable bases.'

Current mattresses on the firm's site range from £268 ($329.99) to £6,760 ($8,299.99).
