리야드 개발위원회는 56억불에 달하는 스마트시티 건설예산을 승인했으며 

이로 인한 8천개의 새로운 일자리가 창출될 것으로 기대하고 있다.

리야드 주지사인 파이잘 빈 반다르 왕자가 주관한 회의에서 리야드를 스마트

시티로 변신시키는 계획을 최종 확정지었으며 UAE의 마지드 알 푸타임그룹이 

이 스마트시티 개발에 참여할 예정이다.

리야드 프로젝트는 상업, 레저, 주거단지 등으로 구성되며 헬스케어센터도 

건립될 예정이다.

The High Commission for Riyadh Development (HCRD) approved projects worth $5.6bn (SAR21bn), which are expected to create 8,000 jobs in Saudi Arabia. 

At the meeting presided by Prince Faisal Bin Bandar, the Governor of Riyadh, HCRD cleared developments slated to transform Riyadh into a smart city. 

The UAE's Majid Al Futtaim Group is also expected to participate in the development of these projects, such as through the 86.6ha Al Narjis district, worth $2.8bn (SAR10.5bn). 

HCRD's projects will span commercial, recreational, and housing sectors, besides hospitality and healthcare. 

Prince Faisal assured "there will be transparency at each stage of the operation during the construction phase, enabling the commission to monitor work as it progresses", according to Arab News.

Ibrahim Al-Sultan, the mayor of Riyadh, said the Alshaya Kuwaiti project, Riyadh Avenue, will span 38.8ha in the Almalqa district, and will be worth $1.7bn (SAR6.5bn).
