티센크루프 엘리베이터는 5일(현지시간) 스페인 히혼(Gijon)의 혁신센터에서 'MULTI 엘리베이터'의 1/3 축소 운행모형을 공개했다. MULTI 엘리베이터는 로프 대신 리니어 모터를 적용해 승강기를 움직이는 엘리베이터다. MULTI는 하나의 승강로에 자체추진력을 가진 여러 대의 승강기가 운행되도록 설계돼 수송능력이 50% 향상됐다. 건물 내 엘리베이터가 차지하는 공간은 절반으로 줄었다. 또 최초로 건물 내 수평이동도 가능하다. 크루프 엘리베이터는 MULTI 엘리베이터 기술을 통해 수송 능력과 효율성을 향상시켰으며 엘리베이터가 차지하는 공간과 건물 내 전력 공급 장치의 최대수요전력도 감소시킬 수 있을 것이라고 밝혔다. 5일 처음 공개된 MULTI 시스템은 10m 높이의 승강로 2개와 카 4대로 구성된 축소모형은 자기부상열차 트랜스래이피드(Transrapid)의 리니어 모터 기술을 적용했다. 안드레아스 쉬어렌벡 티센크루프엘리베이터 CEO는 "MULTI는 미래의 도전에 대한 티센크루프의 해답"이라며 "이 시스템은 건물 내 운송력 요구에 가장 부합하는 시장선도적인 혁신을 가져다 줄 것"이라고 말했다. On November 5, 2015, only one year after announcing the concept of its game-changing MULTI elevator technology, ThyssenKrupp unveils a fully-functional 1:3 scale model at its Innovation Center in Gijón, Spain. The MULTI system uses linear motors instead of ropes, enabling horizontal movement and transforming conventional elevator transportation into vertical metro systems. MULTI elevator technology increases transport capacities and efficiency while reducing the elevator footprint and peak loads from the power supply in buildings.

Revealed in operation for the first time today, the MULTI system represents a landmark revolution in the elevator industry. This first scale model, with two 10 metre shafts and four cabs, applies linear motor technology based on the magnetic levitation train Transrapid. With no cables at all and multiple cabins per shaft, MULTI will transform how people move inside buildings. This latest ThyssenKrupp innovation follows the recently introduced ACCEL system, which also applies the same linear motor technology and is transforming mobility between short distances in cities and airports.

Commenting on this milestone at the Innovation Center, Andreas Schierenbeck, CEO of ThyssenKrupp Elevator said, "As we promised 12 months ago, we present today the first model of our ground-breaking MULTI elevator system.
