2,135km의 술탄왕국의 철도망을 구축하고 있는 오만레일은  오만철도 운영 및 유지관리(O&M) 프로젝트 1단계에 8개 컨소시엄이 입찰에 참여해왔다고 밝혔다. 참여 그룹은 Aurizon Operations Canarail and Menarail Transport Consultant Network Rail Consulting Rites India and Konkan Railway Advanced Rail Barbican Zubair Corp Grindrod Mauritius 등 8개다. 1단계 사업은 UAE 국경도시 부라이미에서 소하르항까지 207km 구간이다. 올해 6월에 발주된 오만철도사업은 총 3개 구간으로 분할하여 시행된다. 사업의 범위는  사전 운전 스타트업 운전 안정화 운전 등 3단계로 구성되어 있다. 국제철도 저널에 따르면  오만 철도 운영 및 유지관리(O&M) 프로젝트 낙찰자는  화물철도, 터미널철도, 철도망의 관리 및 유지보수 등을 수행하게 된다. by Ki Chul Hwang  Conpaper  Editor Distributor  황기철  콘페이퍼 에디터

Oman Rail, which is developing the Sultanate’s 2,135 kilometres (km) eponymous railway network, received bids from eight groups for its operations and maintenance (O&M) contracts for the network’s first phase.

The bidders include Aurizon Operations; FS Italy, Almavia, Al Madina Logistics, Canarail and Menarail Transport Consultant; Freightliner Group, Oman Investment Corp and Network Rail Consulting; Rites India and Konkan Railway; GB Railfreight, Al Bahja Construction, and Advanced Rail; Swiss Railway Systems, Ubar, Transnet SOC, and Barbican; Assignia Infrastructure Oman, Asesoría Integral Ferroviaria, FGC and Zubair Corp; and, Grindrod Mauritius.

Oman Rail’s Phase 1 spans 207km, from Buraimi on the UAE border to the country’s Sohar Port.

The O&M tender, which was released in June 2015, is split into three parts.

Scope of work accordingly includes pre-operations, start-up operations, and steady-state operations, according to Constructionweekonline news report.

According to International Railway Journal, the selected bidder will carry out railway freight operations and maintenance, terminal operations and maintenance, and railway network management and maintenance.

The partner will also be responsible for staff development and support functions to enable the delivery of rail operations.
