Hur closes strong to win Indy LPGA event

Hur Mi-jung took her place among the multiple tournament winners this season, going wire-to-wire for the first time to claim the Indy Women in Tech Championship by four strokes on Sunday.
The 29-year-old Hur entered the final round with a two stroke lead after shooting a sizzling 63 in her first round to set the tone for the week.

허미정, LPGA 투어 인디 위민 인 테크 챔피언십 우승 결혼 후 더 강해진 허미정, LPGA투어 시즌 2승 달성 세계 랭킹 26위에서 10위로 16계단 뛰어올라 허미정(30)이 미국여자프로골프(LPGA)투어 인디 위민 인 테크 챔피언십(총상금 200만달러)을 제패했다. 허미정은 30일(한국시간) 미국 인디애나주 인디내아폴리스의 브릭야드 크로싱 골프클럽(파72·6456야드)에서 열린 대회 최종 라운드에서 버디만 4개를 잡아 4언더파 68타를 쳤다. 최종합계 21언더파 267타로 리더보드 최상단에 이름을 올렸다. 대회가 열리는 나흘간 1위를 한 번도 내주지 않은 ‘와이어 투 와이어’ 우승이다. 지난 8월 레이디스스코티시오픈에 이어 이번 시즌 2승이자 투어 통산 4승이다. 그는 올 시즌 LPGA투어에서 한국 선수 가운데 고진영(24·4승), 박성현(26·2승)·김세영(26·2승)에 이어 3번째로 2승 이상을 달성한 선수가 됐다. 이번 우승으로 시즌 상금은 종전 28위에서 15위(84만5067달러)로 13계단 뛰어 오르게 됐다. Hur, of South Korea, just missed her long birdie putt on the final hole which left her with a tap in for par and a 21-under 261 total at the Brickyard Crossing course.

"I am so happy," Hur said. "I was talking about wire-to-wire after third round. I have never done that before so I really wanted to do it, and I did it."
Nanna Koerstz Madsen, of Denmark, shot a closing 67 and finished second at 17-under 271.
American Marina Alex was third at 15 under and Japan's Sakura Yokomine, England's Bronte Law, Maria Torres of Puerto Rico and Megan Khang of the US finished in a four-way tie for fourth, eight shots adrift of Hur.
Hur, claimed her fourth career LPGA victory, and became one of six multiple winners this season, joining South Korea compatriots Ko Jin-young, Kim Sei-young, Park Sung-hyun and Canadian Brooke Henderson and Aussie Hannah Green.

She ended a five-year title drought by winning last month's Ladies Scottish Open.
Hur started her bogey-free round with three pars before making birdie on the par-four fourth. She recorded back-to-back birdies at the turn and then added another on the par-four 13th hole.
"I am just trying to enjoy my golf game. It is working really well," Hur said.
