Saudi's Taif Independent Sewage Treatment Plant receives applicants
In January, Saudi Arabia's Water & Electricity Company (WEC) commenced a programme to commission a series of new Independent Sewage Treatment Plants as part of the company's 'Vision 2030,' which recognises the critical importance of ensuring the future reliable provision of sewage treatment services for the quality of life of residents of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

삼성엔지니어링이 사우디아라비아 하수 처리장 사업 입찰을 위해 움직이기 시작했다.
SOQ 제출은 입찰 참여 자격을 얻기 위한 절차다. SOQ는 일반적으로 입찰 참가 적격자를 선정하기 위한 평가서를 말하는데 입찰자의 과거 수행실적, 기술제안서 등이 담겨 있다.
WEC에 따르면 SOQ를 제출한 기업이나 컨소시엄은 모두 15곳으로 삼성엔지니어링을 비롯해, 스페인 아치오나 아구아, 중국 그조바(Gezhouba) 그룹, 일본 마루베니 코퍼레이션, 프랑스 수에즈 그룹, 사우디 SSEM 등이다.
WEC는 SOQ를 제출한 업체들을 대상으로 설계부터 금융조달, 시공, 운영까지 전반적인 업무를 수행 능력을 평가해 우선협상대상자를 선정할 계획이다.
삼성엔지니어링은 바레인에서 하수처리시설을 시공한 경험과 노하우를 바탕으로 이번 프로젝트 수주에 역량을 집중하고 있다.
타이프 시 인근에 지어지는 ISTP는 사우디가 추진 중인 ‘사우디 비전 2030’ 프로젝트의 한 부분이다.
‘사우디 비전 2030’은 무함마드 빈 살만 왕세자가 2016년 발표한 사우디 전반에 대한 개혁안이다. 여기에는 정치·경제는 물론 공공서비스 질적 향상 등 사회적 개혁도 포함됐다.
이 시설은 하루 27만㎥ 규모에 달하는 하수를 처리할 수 있으며 타이프와 주변 도시인 메카와 제다를 관통하는 담수화·여과수 처리 시설과도 연계될 예정이다.
일본계 미즈호 은행은 ISTP에 대한 금융조달과 프로젝트 전체를 리딩한다. 로펌인 화이트앤케이스 LLP(White&Case LLP)가 법률 자문위원을 맡으며, 기술고문은 글로벌 엔지니어링 업체인 WS Atkins & Partners가 담당한다.

Saudi WEC invites bids for ISTP advisory services RIYADH, 1 days ago Saudi Arabia's Water & Electricity Company (WEC) has invited bids from leading consultancy firms for the provision of advisory services linked to three independent sewage treatment projects (ISTPs) with a total capacity of 615,000 cu m per day. The RFPs (request for proposals) of advisory services have been issued by WEC for Batch 2 of the ISTPs which will come up in three major parts of Saudi Arabia: Al Madinah region located on the kingdom's west side along the Red Sea coast; Buraidah, the capital of Al Qassim region in north-central Saudi Arabia; and Tabuk region in the northwest of the country. The projects are Madinah-3 ISTP that boasts a total capacity of 375,000 cu m/day; Buraydah-2 ISTP with a 150,000 cu m/day; and Tabuk-2 ISTP with 90,000 cu m/day. WEC는 사우디 아라비아의 3대 주요 지역인 홍해 연안에 위치한 알 마디나 지역, 사우디 아라비아 중북부 알 카심 지역의 수도인 부라이다, 그리고 북서부의 타북 지역에 대한 하수처리사업 자문서비스 입찰 공고한 바 있다. 대상 프로젝트는 하루 37만5000 m3의 총 용량을 자랑하는 마디나-3 ISTP, 하루 15만m3의 부라이다-2 ISTP, 하루 9만m3의 타북-2 ISTP 등이다. For this purpose, WEC has conducted a competitive process to select a developer or developer consortium for the development, financing, engineering, procurement, construction, implementation, ownership, operation, maintenance and transfer of a new ISTP with a total ultimate treatment capacity of up to 270,000 m3/day. The ISTP will be located near the city of Taif, in the Mecca Province of KSA.
