중국발 스모그기 한반도까지 강타하고 있는 가운데 중국의 일기 날씨 전문언론인 중국천기망(中國天氣網)이 그 원인을 분석하고 나서 주목을 끌고 있다.
중국천기망(中國天氣網)은 최근 "해마다 겨울 동북과 화북지방에 발생하는 스모그의 가장 큰 원인은 수확을 끝낸 농촌의 짚태우기다" 라고 지적했다.

지적이 나왔다. 중국발 스모그를 막기위해서는 그 짚태우기 관행부터 막아야 한다는 지적이다.
자동차 매연이나 공장에서 나오는 연기보다 농촌의 짚 태우기가 더 문제라는 충격적인 보도다.
석탄을 사용하는 겨울철 난방보다 농촌 짚태우기가 더 무섭다고했다.
중국천기망(中國天氣網)은 그 근거로 환경부의 대기오염 검사수치를 제시했다.
랴오닝(遼寧)성 선양(瀋陽), 지린(吉林)성 창춘(長春) 등에 심각한(重度) 스모그가 발생했을 때 공기 중 석탄과 직접 연관되는 이산화황(SO₂) 수치는 국가 기준이내였으나 칼륨(K)의 수치가 정상치의 2배로 나타났다는 것이다.
그 칼륨이 바로 짚 태우기에서 나온다.
공기 중 칼륨 수치는 농가에서 짚을 태우는 행태에서 연유한다는 것이다.
그 짚태우기를 못하게 함으로써 스모그의 절반 이상은 막을 수 있다고 천기망은 지적했다.

Straw burning in 20 Chinese provinces over the past two weeks has caused heavy smog across most areas of the country, the Ministry of Environmental Protection said on Sunday.
The ministry’s remote sensing satellite detected 862 suspected straw fires on Saturday, 54 more than the same period last year, with Shandong province home to as many as 179.
The ministry said the real number is most likely far more than that picked up by satellites due to thick clouds obscuring the satellites' sensors.
Chinese farmers traditionally burn straw after harvest and bury the ashes below the ground, as they believe it fertilises the land. Despite a decrease during the summer in straw burning, Chinese officials say that the pollution generally gets worse in October.
Beijing's pollution recently sparked complaints from tennis players competing at the China Open, reports CNN, with Slovakian Martin Klizan complaining about the "uncontrollable" coughing among athletes.
