쿠웨이트 지하철 당국은 쿠웨이트 도시 지하철 공사를 위한 새로운 자문위원들을 임명했으며 내년 1/4분기에는 지하철 사업이 본 궤도에 진입 할 수 있을 것이라고 발표하였다.
쿠웨이트 지하철 사업은 2006년에 처음 발표 되었고 2012년에는 참여의향서(Expression of Interest)까지 접수했으나 이후 사업이 중단된 바 있다.
160km 거리에 68개역이 들어서게 될 이번 사업은 5단계로 나누어 추진될 예정이다. 1단계 구간은 GCC 화물 터미널에서 쿠웨이트 국제공항을 경유하여 쿠웨이트 도심에 이르는 레드 라인(Red Line)이다.
노선의 60%는 터널로 이루어지며 건설비는 70억$에 달할 것으로 추정된다. 사업은 기반시설 패키지 4, 시스템 1, 차량 구매 사업으로 나누어지는데 모두 PPP사업으로 추진된다.
국가 간선 철도망 건설도 내년 1분기에 착수된다. 100억$을 투입하여 574km의 철도망을 구축하는데 남북노선과 동서노선으로 나누어 시행된다. 1단계는 남북노선으로 사우디 국경의 An Nuwaisib에서 화물기지까지의 구간인데 쿠웨이트 도심까지는 별도의 노선을 건설하여 지하철 레드라인(Red Line)과 환승이 가능토록 건설된다. 이후에는 이라크 국경까지 연장하도록 계획되고 있다. (출처 레일뉴스) |
Kuwait metro and rail procurement to begin next year
KUWAIT: Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects says that it has appointed new advisers for the planned Kuwait City metro and expects to start procurement in the first quarter of 2016.
Plans for a metro were first announced in 2006. Expressions of interest were invited in 2012, but the project was subsequently put on hold.
The 160 km network with 68 stations is to be built in five phases. The first would be the Red Line, running from the GCC rail freight terminal to Kuwait City centre via Kuwait International Airport.
The total network, of which 60% would be underground, is expected to cost US$7bn to build. Work is to be split into four infrastructure packages and a systems and rolling stock contract, all of which would be PPPs.
Procurement for the national heavy rail network is also due to begin in the first quarter of 2016. The US$10bn, 574 km network would consist of a north-south line and an east-west line. The first phase is to be the north-south route from An Nuwaisib on the Saudi border to the freight depot, with a branch to the passenger station at Kuwait City, where interchange will be provided with the metro Red Line. The north-south line would subsequently be extended to the Iraqi border.
