          a 'robo-nose'.  Researchers have used genes from the nose of mice to develop an artificial olfactory organ

탐지견 대체할 '로보 코(robo-nose)' 개발 듀크대 연구팀   과학자들이 마약류, 폭발물, 실종자를 발견하기 위해 냄새를 맡는 개들을 대신할 '로보 코'를 만들었다 마약, 폭발물, 실종자를 감지하는 데 사용되는 믿을만한 마약 탐지견들은 곧 'robo-nose'로 대체될 수 있을 것이다.  전문가들은 쥐에게서 추출한 냄새 수용체를 바탕으로 시제품을 만들었으며 냄새를 맡는 개들을 대체하는데 사용될 수 있는 살아있는 쥐 세포로 만들어진 인공 로봇 코 장치를 만들기 위한 첫 번째 단계를 밟았다.  연구원들은 냄새와 수용기 사이의 반응이 일어났을 때 액체가 켜지는 방법에 착안했다. 탐지견은 우리의 안전에 매우 소중하지만 비용이 많이 들고 자주 피곤해 해 능률이 떨어진다 "인조 코에 대한 생각은 오래 전부터 존재해 왔다"라고 듀크 대학의 분자 유전학과 미생물학 교수인 히로아키 마쓰나미는 말한다. 황기철 콘페이퍼 에디터 큐레이터 Ki Cheol Hwang, conpaper editor, curator

Trusty sniffer dogs that are used to detect drugs, explosives and missing people could soon be replaced by a 'robo-nose'.   

Trained dogs are taught to use their sensitive sense of smell to detect the presence of certain chemicals and scientists have successfully recreated a robotic alternative. 

Researchers used genes from the nose of mice to develop the olfactory organ which they hope will one day replace the dogs.
