If you love de-stressing outdoors but aren’t so fond of bugs and dirt, these minimalist camping pods might be just what you’re looking for. These “glamping” accommodations allow guests to spend time in nature without compromising on comfort. Located deep within the forests of Suncheon, South Korea, the SJCC Glamping Resort’s 16 tents were designed by London and Seoul-based architecture firm Atelier Chang.

The units were inspired by the lightweight quality of a standard camping tent, but have been modernized with spacious floor plans and luxury details. The dome-like, 164-square-foot structures are made from steel frames covered in insulated, bespoke fabric that when illuminated from within, radiates a colorful, warm glow at night. Elevated on stilts, each glamping tent also has its own front porch and terrace that encourages guests to look out over the dramatic, cypress tree-covered landscape. Although the tents are positioned close together, the surrounding trees act as natural privacy barriers.
Founder of Atelier Chang, Soohyun Chang says, “We wanted guests to feel as if they are living deep in the forest—directly in touch with the natural environment rather than being disconnected from it, as is the case with many ‘destination’ resorts.”
Inside, visitors might be surprised to find a luxury interior with two bedrooms, a bathroom, a living room, and a kitchen. Each self-contained tent is connected to the resort’s main electric and water supply at the geometric-shaped community facility, where guests can visit reception as well as a restaurant. No need for cold beans and beef jerky here!
