ITC recommends tariffs on Samsung, LG to benefit Whirlpool

The U.S. International Trade Commission recommends tariffs on Samsung (OTC:SSNNF, OTC:SSNLF) and LG to keep inexpensive washers from washing away Whirlpool (NYSE:WHR).  

The ITC says the graduated tariff rate should apply to large residential washers above 1.2M units for the next three years. The rate will start at 50% and drop to 40% by the third year.

No consensus was reached on import tariffs on fewer than 1.2M units. 

President Trump should make the final decision in early 2018. 

Whirlpool shares are up 2.3%.
