With a penchant for patterns and an eye for design, self-taught illustrator Dinara Mirtalipova creates colorful contemporary works of art with a traditional twist. As an expressive nod to her heritage, Mirtalipova incorporates Uzbek folk motifs into her work, as exquisitely evident in her recent collection of hand-painted Easter eggs.

Using a fine paintbrush, Mirtalipova embellishes the wood and porcelain eggs with delightful designs reminiscent of Uzbekistan’s age-old arts and crafts culture. The decorative birds, ornamental flowers, and stylized sprigs of leaves that adorn each elliptical figurine capture both the artist’s characteristically graphic aesthetic and her fascination with her home country’s flora and fauna.

In addition to exhibiting her artistic influences, each folk art Easter egg offers a visually unique alternative to conventionally painted eggs. Unlike those colored with pastel dyes, drawings in white crayon, and candy-colored stickers, Mirtalipova’s collection of Easter eggs is rendered in a vivid yet simple color palette composed primarily of shades of red and muted greens against black or white backdrops.

Unfortunately, as Easter draws near, Mirtalipova’s Etsy Shop is currently sold out of her popular porcelain eggs. However, you can still check out her other equally charming folk-inspired creations!
