베일에 가려져 있던 삼성전자의 차세대 전략 스마트폰 ‘갤럭시S8’이 공개됐다. 색상은 미드나이트 블랙, 오키드 그레이, 아크틱 실버, 코랄 블루, 메이플 골드 등 총 5가지다. 삼성전자는 갤럭시S8와 갤럭시S8+를 다음달 21일 한국과 미국을 시작으로 총 160여 개국에 순차 판매를 시작할 예정이다. 국내에서는 다음달 1일부터 곧바로 체험행사와 함께 예약판매가 진행된다

【뉴욕 교도】한국 삼성전자는 29일, 신형 스마트폰 ‘갤럭시 S8’과 ‘S8 플러스’를 미국에서 4월 21일 출시한다고 발표했다. 작년에 대규모 스마트폰 발화 사고를 일으킨 이후, 첫 기반 기종 투입으로 신뢰 회복을 도모하게 된다.
화면 사이즈는 ‘S8’가 5.8인치, ‘S8 플러스’가 6.2인치. 현행 모델인 ‘S7엣지’와 마찬가지로 화면 측면의 베젤(테두리)을 없애 대화면을 강조했다. 기본 화면으로 돌아가기 위한 버튼도 없앴다. 독자 음성 가이드 기능 ‘빅스비’를 탑재했다.
삼성은 일본에서의 출시 예정을 밝히지 않았지만, NTT 도코모 등 통신 각사를 통해 출시일과 가격을 발표할 전망이다. 미국의 가전 양판점에서는 ‘S8’이 750달러(약 840만 원), ‘S8플러스’는 850달러 정도에 판매된다.
삼성전자가 작년 8월에 미국 등에서 발매한 ‘노트7’은 발화 사고로 판매정지에 내몰렸다. 삼성전자 간부는 29일, 미국 뉴욕에서 열린 발표회에서 “삼성에게는 어려운 1년이 되고 있다”고 밝힌 뒤, 반격에 의욕을 드러냈다.

After months of leaks and countless rumours, the Samsung Galaxy S8 has been officially unveiled.
Samsung is hoping the phone will help it make a comeback after its Note 7 exploding phone fiasco last year.
The eagerly-awaited iPhone rival features a radical redesign to allow a massive 5.8-inch screen to be squeezed in to a device with a relatively small footprint.
The device is one of two new phones with the S8 landing alongside the even larger 6.2-inch Samsung Galaxy S8+.
Both feature facial recognition technology that allows users to unlock the phone with their face, and a Bixby 'personal assistant' button.
They are available for preorder on March 30th and will be shipping on April 21st, with full retail prices starting from $750 (£689) for the S8 and $850 (£779) for the S8+.
