  1월 22일 사우디 리야드 메트로 3호선(오렌지라인) 토공작업이 완료돼 

리야드 주지사인 파이잘 빈 반다르 알 사우디 왕자가 참석한 가운데 기념식이 거행됐다.


700톤 무게에 직경 10m에 달하는 초대형 자즐라 TBM은 2015년 7월 8일 터널 굴착 작업을 착수했다.

리야드 메트로 3호선은 총 41km 중 중앙부측 11km구간이 지하구간으로 되어 있다.


한국의 삼성물산은 현재 리야드 메트로 4~6호선 시공에 참여하고 있다.

Riyadh Metro Line 3 Tunnel Excavation Work Completed :The end of Riyadh Metro Line 3 (the Orange Line) tunnel excavation work was celebrated on 22 January 2017 in the presence of the Riyadh Governor, HRH Prince Faisal bin Bandar Al Saud, at the Qasr Al Hoqm Downtown Station.




The Tunnel Boring Machine called Jazlah, 10 m in diameter and weighing approx. 700 tons, started boring on 8 July 2015.


The Governor was accompanied by Civil Service Minister Khaled Abdullah Al-Araj, Municipal and Rural Affairs Minister Abdul Lateef Al-Asheikh, Transport Minister Suleiman bin Abdullah Al-Hamdan, Public Transport Authority Head Rumaih Mohammed Al-Rumaih, National Water Company CEO Abdulrahman Mohammed Al-Ibrahim and Riyadh Mayor and ADA Chairman Ibrahim bin Mohammad Al-Sultan.


Line 3 will be mostly elevated along the western part of Al – Madinah Al Munawwarah Road, then underground in bored and mined tunnels in the central section of the line and generally at grade along Prince Saad Ibn Abdulrahman Road. The length of the line is 41.7 km, of which approximately 11 km are underground.


Located near the Governor’s Palace, Qasr Al Hoqm Station will serve Lines 1 and 3.




On the occasion HRH Prince Faisal confirmed that the metro component of the overall King Abdulaziz Project for Riyadh Public Transport is now 48% complete.


With six lines at a total length of 176 km and 85 metro stations, the metro network will cover most of the city’s densely populated areas, public facilities, and the educational, commercial and medical institutions. The network will be connected to King Khalid International Airport and King Abdullah Financial District, main universities, downtown and the Public Transport Center.


The Saudi capital currently counts around 6 million residents and the population is expected to exceed the 8 million mark by 2030. Riyadh Metro is aimed at easing traffic congestion and reducing pollution by cutting the number of vehicles on the city roads.
