Russian federal authorities approve construction of a new passenger terminal in Khabarovsk international airport. The investment project was discussed and adopted during a Governmental Transport Commission meeting headed by Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich.
Khabarovsk International Airport is the largest airport in the Far Eastern Federal District. Earlier in March, Far East Development Corporation and JSC “International airport of Khabarovsk” signed an agreement according to which the airport became a resident of a so called ‘territory of priority development’ (TOR, similar to special economic zone) and was assigned to prepare a project on construction of a new complex with investment totaling 6 bln rubles. The project provides for construction of a modern passenger terminal with an annual passenger capacity of 4.5 million people, as well as a hotel and fairgrounds.
Earlier, RIA Novosty reported that some Japanese investments were interested in the implementation of the project, naming Sojitz Corporation. Back in May 2016, Russian delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister of the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev payed a visit to Japan to discuss the project.
