Proudly brewed. Self driven.

October 27, 2016

Last week, Otto, the self-driving truck company, teamed with Anheuser-Busch to successfully deliver a truckload of beer from Fort Collins, through Denver, to Colorado Springs.

The video shows the truck's driver leaving the driver's seat and observing the road from the comfort of the sleeper berth. The 53-foot trailer filled with 2,000 cases of Bud rumbling down I-25 with no human at the steering wheel.

For this initial delivery, Otto’s truck departed Anheuser-Busch’s facility in Loveland, Colorado in the early morning before reaching the I-25 in Fort Collins. The truck drove through Denver — alongside regular passenger car traffic — and navigated to its destination in Colorado Springs without incident.

Otto said a trained driver was in the cabin of the truck at all times to monitor the vehicle’s progress and take over if necessary. At no point was the driver required to intervene, the company said.

Otto was acquired by Uber last August.
