케냐에서 마이로비~몸바사 철도(SGR)를 건설하고 있는 중국은 동물들의 안전 확보가 최우선 과제다.

SGR의 노선은 케냐의 주요 국립공원과 야생동물 통로지역들을 지나간다

따라서 궤도가 기존 철도보다 4m 이상 높게 건설되고 있으며 특히 차보와 나이로비 국립공원은 

8m이상으로 설계됐다. 

이를 위해 10개의 교량과 20개의 야생동물 통로를 건설하고 있으며 2017년 완공 예정이다.

Wildlife being Kenya’s greatest heritage, the Chinese have created a win win situation ensuring the safety of the wild animals. This has been a top priority during the construction of the SGR.

The SGR is about four metres higher on average than the old one. The SGR routes passes through the Country’s major national parks and wildlife corridors, the Chinese have raised the base in Tsavo and Nairobi national park to about 8 metres allowing easy movement of the animals. They have also built over ten bridges and 20 wildlife corridors in these parks.
