  한국 건설업체가 건설하고 있는 UAE 바라카 원전(NPP)의 총공정이 62% 이상에 도달했다.

발주처인 UAE 원자력청은 2012년 착공 이후 4개의 원전 건설공사가 순조롭게 진행되고 있으며 2020년까지 

모두 완료할 계획이라고 언급했다.

현재 총 4기의 원전 중 1호기의 공정은 85%, 2호기는 67% 그리고 3호기와 4호기는 각각 44%, 27%를 공정을 완료했다.

2020년 가동에 들어갈 경우 UAE 전력 소요량의 1/4을 공급하게 되며 매년 12백만톤의 탄소배출을 감소시킬 수 있다.

Revealed: UAE's Barakah nuclear project 62% ready

The UAE's Barakah Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) is more than 62% complete. 

Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) is developing the project in Abu Dhabi's Western Region as part of the UAE's peaceful nuclear energy programme. 

Construction works at Barakah NPP commenced in 2012, and its four nuclear energy units are due for completion in 2020. 

Unit 1 is over 85% complete, Unit 2 is 67% complete, Unit 3 is 44% complete, and Unit 4 is 27% complete so far. 

 

When in operation, the four reactors are expected to deliver a quarter of the UAE's electricity needs, and save up to 12 million tonnes annually in carbon emissions. 

These announcements were made during a visit made by attendees of the World Nuclear Fuel Cycle conference, state agency WAM said. 

Dr Mohamed Chookah, ENEC executive director of nuclear fuel procurement, hosted the visit.
